In one sentence, Jadepunk is a fantastic addition to any roleplayer's collection. It uses the Fate system for its core rules, but doesn't offer the freeform character creation found in the vanilla version of Fate. This is a good thing.
Jadepunk is so tied to its setting that its more rigid rules, which superficially resemble character classes found in other RPGs, that it doesn't need to offer open-ended character creation choices. The setting resembles ancient China with a western feel. This game keeps from becoming cultural appropriation as it presents a diverse population that liberally draws from Asian, European and other cultures.
If you like martial arts, gunslingers, the steampunk ethos, class warfare, comic books or anime, there's something here for you.
