All around a good RPG. It's age shows in some places (I hear a new edition is coming out sometime in the next few years), and there's a few "glitches" where the rulebook referrs to materials that don't exits, but all-around excellent.

SLA Industries is an awesome game. Granted, the setting is depressing, and you may not be able to sleep as easily (at least if you're squeamish like me) after reading through it, but it is really a great game. Niche audience, maybe. Bad, no.

With a rich background and no dearth of excitement, SLA Industries is one of the more professional science fiction games, and one of the better ones too, with a subtle overtone of horror and conspiracy.

SLA Industries rules the World of Progress, a World called Mort. You work for SLA. Everyone works for SLA. You work in the troublshooting department, on call. When you work. • A brutal violent hybrid of Paranoia, cyberpunk, and fantasy, with a touch of noir. A nice, clean d10 based system. The PDF is nice, and OCRed for convenience. • This is not a game suitable for children. The humor in the rulebook is dark and brutal, and often sexual. The images are PG13 to softer R. The theme of paranoid cyber troubleshooters with wigged out elves with super-psi... well, let's just say it can be a blast... but it can also turn totally juvenile with the wrong approach. • I'd forgotten about playing SLA back in the 90's, until I saw this up for download, and it brought back memories. Fond, disturbing memories of death in the sewers of Mort. The world of progress is a grim place. A good place for a killing spree... make yours count.

SLA Industries, written by Nightfall Games, is a remarkable game system given the depth and complexity of the background information they created for this system. When it was released it was viewed as a dynamic concept and used a different, but not original, combat system. Character generation relies on point system not dice rolling and the majority of the games' mechanics are designed to allow the players to emmerse themselves in the dark and forboding world of the gothic punk genre. The only drawback with SLA Industries is the release of information regarding "The Truth". I strongly recommend that you do not research information regarding SLA Industries if you intend to run a campaign in this universe as the knowledge of the "Truth", in my humble opinion, destroys the overall uniqueness of the game itself. Overall I thoroughly recommend this system as a different, engaging and addictive alternative to your classic game systems.

Coolest story for a game ever. Good set up for GM ideas. Also, an interesting character advancement process based on rank and not power of the character.

It was free, although a scan rather than a pdf. Its the entire ruules as advirtised, but being scanned, its not as easy to read on screen as a pdf. Frankly, the setting did nothing for me, but I'll give it 5 starrs for having the guts to put their core product out for free.

SLA Industries is simply the finest Dark Future RPG setting.

The feel of the setting is never in question, the writers, illustrators, and editors did a great job. After reading through both 'editions' of the SLA Industries main book, the original certainly appears more carefully crafted as the illustrations are clearer and not so dark as the second 'edition'/printing was, which looks as though the scanned the book with a bad scanner and printed it. The fact a copy is available on PDF for free is amazing for such a perfect setting.

I have to concur... SLA Industries is one of the best settings from the good old days. I bought a copy waybackwhen and I still love to read through it when I need ideas for other games or just for the sake of having a good read late in the afternoon.

The art is evocative, the background and prospects grim for the players, but there's so much to discover and build on that be able to get it free should put you in a state of permanent bliss.

Just like the Corporation wants.

LIKED: Everything, a good reintroduction to a great, classic setting.

DISLIKED: There's nothing to complain about here.

Observation: A few pages might look a bit dark in the PDF, but they are almost exact copies of the ones in the book, so I believe this to be the best scan of a printed book I've seen, so far.

I've beeen playing and reading RPGs for over 30 years now and, frankly, I've forgotton more games than I can remember - but a few stick in my mind as memorable and some as real classics.

SLA Industries is one of the classics.

The setting grabs you 'White Wolf style', but without any aftertaste of angst. With a bit of imagination and artistic licence you can use SLA to play anything from Paranoia style comedy to hardcore cyberpunk(esque) to sci-fi horror adventures.

Definitely one of my all time top 10.

I can only add that, after reading it, I went back and bought all the supplements without any hesitation.

LIKED: Setting. Artwork.

Also, it was free (at least at the time I downloaded it?).

DISLIKED: What could there be not to like?

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
