Did you like Forthright Open Roleplay (FOR) but wished for more options, more Boosts, in a word, for more crunch? Well, with the Forthright Toolbox you will have all the crunch you might ever wish! (Within the level of abstraction of FOR, of course.)
And if that is not enough for you, there are rules for creating even more Boosts, and all the optional rules are very easy to change or adapt to your requirements. Complete with advice for adapting FOR to other genres or genre combinations (Genreblend, in FOR-speak), it really is intended to take your FOR game to new heights and opening new possibilities. Do you want to play supers, swords and sorcery, military sci-fi, survival horror, kids on bikes or pocket-monster-tamers with FOR? Now you have all these genres (and many more) specifically described, with a list of recommended rules for each one. Do you wish to play grittier games? Make your players roll to avoid losing their marbles when faced with an otherworldly horror? Do you want more streamlined vehicle combat rules? New types of Minions? Alternatives to Fighting Stances? Using XP for advancing your character? Playing with just a d20 or simply using d6 for all rolls? Look no further!
A word of caveat, though. Some of the optional rules do not work well with each other (but the text lets you know), and it is advisable to apply only those rules that may enhance your game without encumbering it. The Toolbox won't convert FOR into Rolemaster or any other physics-focused ruleset (not that there is anything bad with those, but even with the Toolbox, FOR is not that kind of game), but wisely used it can add a lot of variety to your games.
