I bought this for my wife, and for myself. My wife is a fan of books like Watership Down and Tailchaser's Song. For me, this is a piece of history, and something to be looked at with reverence. The art is great, considering the subject matter, and the rules, while obviously dated, are amazing both as a playable game and from a developer's standpoint. If you have any desire to understand the history and development of role playing, this book is a logical choice.

I came upon Bunnies & Burrows out sheer curiosity for beginnings of the hobby and I was suprised to find such complete game on such subject. I am impressed how much effort has been put to the game about rabbits and rules for simulating their life. Though whimsical I was particulary impressed by how seriously the game was designed, this is no "joke game" with poorly cobbled rules. Rules remind me of D&D and for such early RPG I am not suprised about that. This is fascinating glimpse to early hobby by very least it's subject matter as it challenges assumptions what the old grumplers were open to in their games, it is apparent that not everyones game was about "fantasy fucking Vietnam" with insane underground labyrinths and ten foot poles as later sources would lead you to believe.

The premier RPG of playing something other than a human or anything humanoid. It is basically "Watership Down" the role-playing game, but there is much more to it than that. It would be disingenious to review it with modern eyes (it is nearly 35 years old now) but it has a very good skill system, and one of the first to be honest. Since the characters are rabbits, there is not much in the way of combat and instead a focus is placed on solving problems and role-playing. It is great that this piece of RPG history can be preserved here and at a fantastic price really.

So pleased to see this game available again. It has been my favourite since I began gaming thirty years ago. It may not appeal to everyone, but those who have read and enjoyed Watership Down will love this game. Now, where did I leave my Badger Pike?!

I was glad to see this role playing classic from 1976 available once again. If you liked D&D back when it consisted of only Greyhawk and Blackmoor. Then check out B&B. Character creation is very similiar. Good basic role playing. Based on Watership Down its definitely a special taste game, but fun to play. Well as an officer in the Owsla I have to get back to the Warren.
