I enjoyed this adventure. It has a huge laboratory, pirates, and the aftermath of the pirate attack.

Chthonian Stars Core Setting

I really love this book. I'm also hoping that Wildstar produces a few more supplements.

The plus side is that they integrated Traveller with Lovecraftian horror quite well. The minus is that they didn't provide enough creatures and those they provided are a bit too easy to kill IMNSHO. And they didn't define Shoggoths! :)

I am about to run a Traveller campaign with Lovecraftian elements and this book helped a lot.

One thing I suspect is that this book would mix well with the Orbital setting for Traveller.

Kitbag 1: Universal Weapon Systems

Overall I liked this booklet. I'm not fond of "modular weapons" where by switching accessories one weapon does everything. For the most part, however, this booklet made it believable and I'll be using some of these in my games.

The drawings were well done. I will be looking for the rest in this series.

The Keep 1.0 - Personal Information Manager for Gamers
Publisher: NBOS Software
by D J N. [Verified Purchaser]

I haven't used all the features yet, but this is the first RPG database that I feel I can use during a game.

I do have the nits, and I'll take them up with NBOS, but the program is easy to use with minimal use of the help system. I really like how this application works well with other NBOS appllications (Inspiration Pad Pro and Character Sheet Maker and even Screen Monkey). For my upcoming Traveller campaign I'll be using this to keep track of all the things that happen. I can use my laptop as a GM's screen and the Keep to handle dice rolling and character sheets.

One really positive thing that this does is to allow a second screen to be used to show things to players. And I happen to have an extra LCD or two lying about.

There are a few things I think of as flaws, but maybe I just don't know how to do them:

  1. Sometimes I'd like to open multiple windows, and I haven't found a way to do this.
  2. I can't figure out how to make hyperlinks work within the Keep; I assume they'll work if I publish the information.

Starships Book I0II : Pirate Terrorship
Publisher: Christian Hollnbuchner

Planetary bombardment on the cheap! A very interesting idea which will show up in my new Traveller game.

It's interesting because most pirates in the past have preyed on settlements rather than on ships, for the most part. And this ship keeps with that tradition.

I will have to convert it for my upcoming campaign (contact me if you're from State College PA), because piracy will be a large theme of the campaign. Having a ship like this in orbit will definitely tilt the odds towards the pirates, and give the heroes something to think about (like, can they destroy the ship before it gets another shot off).

A very interesting and useful program. The program as delivered is mainly for fantasy games, but more files can be added for whatever game you're running.

And for the price, it's a very good buy!

The Uniques #9
Publisher: Comfort Love and Adam Withers

I really liked this one. While the plot is somewhat old, the main heroine (Telepath - a telepath/telekinetic who prefers using marshal arts to her mental powers) more than makes up for it.

I'm really hoping that this isn't the end of the series. I want more of the team with no name (actually I think they picked a name at the last moment. I really liked the bonding over karaoke and bowling as well as putting the beat down on the bad guys.

Yes, many of the heroes are stereotypes. However, there is enough new and pure fun here that I can overlook that.
