Shards of the Exalted Dream

Once again the recent crop of writers for Exalted have hit it out of the park. I haven't finished reading the book yet, but everything I have read is, at the very least, worth reading. The Modern Exalted shard is, in my opinion, almost worth the price of the book all on it's own. For those wanting to run Exalted in settings ranging from heavily tweaked to barely recognizable, this book is great. For those wanting things they can add to their regular setting Exalted games this book is also highly useful. New rules for Abyssal resonance, new rules for Sidereal astrology, an entire Yozi charm set and new charms for every type of exalt make this worth your time and money.

I won't get overly wordy. I'll just say that this book is one of the few absolute must haves for any Exalted game. The guild is such a major part of the setting and the book written so incredibly well that it would be a disservice to any fan and their game to not own this book.

The Compass of Celestial Directions, Vol. VI - Autochthonia

Having waited about nine years for this book all I can really think to say is that it was worth every second of waiting. I fell in love with Autochthonia and the Alchemical Exalted way back in the early days of first edition when reading Time of Tumult. When Exalted the Autochthonians came out I was extremely disappointed with how little we actually got about Autochtonia. Now some years later I've finally gotten the product I'd wanted back then. If anything this book has only managed to increase my love for Autochthonia. The writers all deserve a great deal of praise. Now if only the print on demand version would come out I could give White-wolf more of my money.

I've been waiting for this book roughly since I read Time of Tumult about 8 years ago. I've only read the first part since that's what's available, but so far I'm not at all disappointed. In the past the Alchemical Exalted and Autochthonia existed largely to be introduced into Creation in my mind. After reading this I can actually visualize Autochthonia well enough to feel inclined to try running a game there. More accurately I'm inspired to do so. Generally speaking if a gaming book inspires me I consider it a good book. This one is very good indeed.

The Broken-Winged Crane

I'm not normally a fan of products that are pretty much wall to wall mechanics. That being said I sat down and read this thing cover to cover without stop upon purchasing it because I couldn't not do so. Okay, that's not entirely honest, I skipped to the heretic charms first and was so completely blown away by them that I immediately went back to the beginning of the book and started reading and couldn't stop. Reviews aren't my strong suit because I tend to lose track of what I'm thinking as I write and things get disorganizes. I'll simply leave it at this. Penny for penny this is probably the best, or maybe second best (Glories of the Most High was pretty damn good) product in the Exalted line. Very much worth well more than you'll pay for it. Why are you still reading this? Go buy it already.

Okay, I've finished Glories: Luna now and like the UCS it simply amazed me. The fluff is incredible, the crunch some of the best of the line , seriously I can't think of a better way to put it than to say it was amazing. I've already passed on one of the charms to one of my players because it was perfect for her character.

Glories of the Most High: The Unconquered Sun

I was hesitant, as some tend to be, to purchase a copy of a book that was only a computer file. That being said, I could not be happier that I got over that concern. Without going into too much lengthy detail I can say that this book is, quite possibly, the best thing I've read in the entire Exalted line. I sat down first thing this morning and started reading and didn't stop until I was done, ignoring protests from my eyes and my need for caffeine along the way. The Unconquered Sun has always intrigued me, but information on him was relatively sparse until now. Now he doesn't just intrigue me, he fascinates me. I get what they mean when they refer to him as the god of perfection, or occasionally more lightheartedly as the god of awesomeness.

Aside from the UCS there's a couple other fascinating gods detailed in these pages, a ton of charms, some sorcery, some artifacts, a bit of errata here and there...Overall an excellent book worthy of anyone's hard earned cash. Thanks to all the writers for their hard work on it.

Now I'm going to stop writing this review and go read one of the other two glories books.
