This book provides unit background and stats for Dream Pod 9's "Gear Krieg" figures, to use with the Battlefield Evolution / World At War rules. The rules for walkers ("Gears") and other specialty troops are handled in such a manner that they remain true to the original source material / game, but neatly work with this set of rules. In fact it is a testament to both the skill of the author, and the flexibility of the Battlefield Evolution rules. The book is beautifully illustrated with photos of painted figures, and the layout is easy to read. As this is designed as a supplement to the World At War rulebook, there are no army lists or stats for "basic" units. There are, however, unit cards for all the models detailed in this book, which is a great resource and something that other publishers might have sold separately. Good writing, solid rules and a great way to play alternate WWII.

An excellent addition to the World at War range. This book adds stats for Dream Pod 9's existing Gear Krieg miniature range to the Battlefield Evolution rules.

The rules for Gears work really well, their ability to drive or walk allows for a lot of tactical flexibility, but they still aren't overpowered compared to existing units from the main rules.

The book is filled with examples of the authors own painted miniatures and, combined with the layout and other artwork, really bring the new units to life.

Add to this rules for Zombies, German Rocket pack troops, Americans with helicopter backpacks and background information on Dream Pod 9's Gear Krieg setting and it all adds up to a great package.

First off understand I love Mecha and Alternate WW2 stuff so my review may be a little biased. I think this is an excellent supplement. The background for the alternate setting is great reading and the units are very interesting. The book gives you stats to use DP9's great "Gear Krieg" line of miniatures. They also include rules for the German rocket troops and german zombies along with American heli troops. The book also includes alternate release dates for vehicles (ie the Maus is released in 1943). Cards are also supplied along with a stunning color book and a printer friendly b/w set. The pictures are great in the color version lots of eyecandy. This supplement now makes me have a reason to get those great looking Gear Krieg models. One thing there are no army list in this book but there are point values (for those that want them). One more thing Soviet super tanks or "Land battleships" are also included what more could one want!
