Lots of good items in this to make your own colony that can be nearly system-neutral, or for various stories. It has rough guides for a breakdown of colony jobs, with a 3-step scale from small to large colonies.

Does the publisher have a forum where I can add some detail comments about it? For example, the Greenhouse and Hydroponic Autofarms are the same cost per Food produced, meaning there is no reason to have just Greenhouse Autofarms. Similarly, the Large Underground Mine is a better investment than the Small or Open-Cast Mine.

Very useful for ideas about how to get players to settle in an area and play whack-a-diremole. It explained how a lord could give what appeared to be a good deal, but also how to bind the PCs closer. Building construction was done assuming regular construction rules (i.e. without magical enhancement, but that would be beyond the scope, and most magical enhancements already include rules within their descriptions).

Three options for quality of land types, though a GM can easily pick something between them. The GM could also mke up rules for letting the players improve the land ("Hey Druid, get to work", "Hey Cleric, know any naature gods or goddesses?", "Wizard, what are you doing now?") It gave a good and basic overview about what land would be like in a city, and icluded rules for equipping a home, quality of goods, etc.

It does not cover stting up a building for crafting, but that is not this book's purpose. It is to give a rough guide to ownership of land, basic home furnishings, basic land pathing (roads and bridges), and rough guide to making money off a farm.

The book itself is excellent, however the publisher is not taking advantage of the freedom PDF allows. The creatures in the book are still printed as though it was a physical product, instead of using extra pages so each creature or vessel only takes up one page, instead of being printed part on one page, and part on another.

For example, on page 104, the Planetary Assault ship has the picture and fluff on one page, and the statistics on page 105. If the Assault ship had been solely on page 105, only one page would be necessary to print out (or to view on various PDF readers).

This would lead to extra empty space in the book, but that could be filled with images or fluff stories (often associated with whatever else is on the page). Page 104 has a Soulcage ship, and adding a story at the bottom about one raiding a colony would be a good filler.

The filler could even be available online as a free download, for those that bought the physical copy.

So overall an excellent book, but FFG needs to take advantage of what PDF allows, instead of just doing a copy using the physical book's limits.

Armageddon 2089 Main Rulebook

The reason I picked up this book was to get the weapons chart so I could have fun with High Frontier (the aerospace version of the game). Looking over just the weapons chart I see a key problem. The stats for combat and construction are mixed together. If they had designed the chart so one page was the combat stats, and the other page for construction, that would have helped. I went ahead and made a sheet like that for my personal use (each page had the weapons name, one page had all the construction stats, the other had all the combat stats).

The dark text on the black background also meant that in order to read anything, I had to highlight or zoom in to see the text. When you have to zoom to 300% to read the text, that means there was little editorial review.

This product could be made so much better if the publisher would just change the background to something lighter, with dark text. The light background would at least lower print costs, and the dark text would make it easier to read. As it is, the only way to use the book would be to do a text copy from each page into a separate document.
