Original tricube tales was good in many regards, but ruling felt too vague at times
Tricube tactics seems to fix it, leaving little space for ambiguity.
Combat rules are simple and flexible, magic got much needed upgrade in terms of mechanics and it became much easier for me to distinct uses of combat style and main trait.
Granted, playing with these rules isn't as swift and intuitive as tricube tales, but I feel like you're not expected to use them constantly. It is much better fit for climatic showdowns or combat heavy, hack and slash games.
