I just ran my brother and nephew (bard, rogue, cleric) through this ... they loved it. I should have populated a few wrong suspects as they quickly figured out who was working against the good people of Windshire, but all the ability checks they loved. I typed up many of the "clues" provided, which they also loved. It ran quickly, enough for one setting. A+

Thank you so much for leaving the kind review! I'm glad they enjoyed the adventure. The first time I ran this for my group they caught on pretty quick as well even with a couple wrong suspects thrown in! Sometimes, you just underestimate your group's abilities to solve things.

A well written adventure that perfectly blends eerie atmosphere with player engagement. The graphic design is polished and professional, and the maps are a great addition. The AI artwork is not a problem at all, as it complements the tone of the module and looks better than most other products on this site.

The plot is straightforward and focused on solving a supernatural mystery in the cursed village of Windshire. The narrative flows naturally, with each scene building on the last. The investigation keeps players engaged, and twists like Verrick's hidden identity and the nightmare sequence add depth to the experience. I really enjoyed how the clues are layered, encouraging creativity and teamwork from the players.

The NPCs, such as Mabel Hobbknocker and Thorne, are memorable and add life to the setting. The appendix is a great resource, providing additional villagers to help the DM adapt to player choices. The Shadow’s Bane Mace stood out as a meaningful and rewarding item that fits seamlessly into the story.

The dream sequence is a highlight, creating a unique and unsettling challenge that engages players in both the narrative and the mechanics. The final confrontation with Verrick is tense and satisfying, with high stakes that reward clever thinking and strategy.

This adventure is easy to run, well paced, and full of opportunities for players to immerse themselves in its world. It provides a great mix of investigation, role-playing, and combat, all while maintaining a strong focus on the mystery.

The Good: Running this adventure was a blast. The story was easy to follow, and it kept everyone on their toes. The mix of investigation and combat made for a well-rounded session. My players really got into the mystery and enjoyed piecing together the clues. The setting felt immersive, and the characters were memorable. The pacing was great, and it had enough twists to keep everyone engaged.

The Bad: It could use a bit more detail in some sections, and the combat encounters might need a little tweaking to fit your group. A couple of scenes felt like they dragged on a bit, but nothing too major. Some of the clues were a bit hard to find, so I had to improvise a bit to keep the game moving. But overall, these were minor issues.

Overall: This adventure was a hit with my group. The mix of mystery, roleplaying, and combat was spot on. It took some prep work, but it was well worth it. Definitely recommend giving it a go!

A friend on facebook told me about this module. I checked out a few works from the author and ended up running a couple. The roleplay aspects brought back the classic feel of dnd. The balance of investigation and combat was well executed and story kept everyone engaged. If you have to incorporate this somewhere it's definitely a solid addition to any campaign as it did not have any specific locations mentioned. Verrick was a great encounter and my gorup really enjoyed it

My group really enjoyed the suspense. Investigating the murder scenes were great! The music box was an excellent addition and really sent chills if you chose some great background music. I apprciate the attention to details throughout the entire module.

This adventure has a strong focus on RP. Ran this for a few teens before my main group met for the evening. It was filled with mystery and intrigue. They really were in a "whodunit" situation and not knowing what was really going on. The combat was challenging for them but still doable with all the bonuses the adventure offered. Will definitely run this again for a more experienced group to see their take!

Loved this! The combination of all the elements of TTRPGs was great. I ran it as a one-shot at my FLCS and everyone had a blast.

Note: I played it with SEVEN people (it was supposed to be 3-4, but one of the scheduled DMs was sick so everyone's table unexpectedly grew) so I did hack some elements and it all played out in one day. This necessicated removing night scenes and one death for time, thereby changing letter content to make it coherent without that. But despite this my players comments were "creepy", "so good", "we had some many things to think about!", "interesting", and - most importantly - "I had a lot of fun. Great game."

Thanks for giving me a great session for which my brain seemed bereft of good ideas on its own.

Thank you so much for the review! Means a lot. I’m extremely happy to hear it can do well even with 7 players too. I really enjoyed making this and glad to hear others have fun with it too!

A great mystery driven one shot. The fights were challenging but doable with all the extra advantages that could be obtained. Maps included were a great addition to have as well.
