Heist scenarios for medieval/renaissance style fantasy games are a somewhat neglected genre, which is a shame as they encourage planning, clever ideas, and innovative use of magic and abilities.
The manse of an unpleasant Merchant-Lord is described in excellent detail: various treasures can be snatched, some hidden, some bulky. some that will need to be fenced; a number of approaches are anticipated; guard patrols and alarm responses are precisely described; inside knowledge can be sought; there will be consequences if thieves are seen (without disguises).
Easily adaptable to other systems: the suggested OSR conversion worked well, thieves are excellent at climbing. sleep can deal with guard dogs. knock with locks; no difficulty in developing stats for WFRP, where a grey wizard made excellent use of the Doppelganger spell. Only one or two PCs (thieves and magic-users being good choices) of higher level than the suggested 1 to 2 works well for a low-lethality burglary. A larger group could attempt an assault.
Highly recommended.
