Atmospheric, fun, fast, and easy to learn! This is a game you can start and finish over a lunch hour. Great models, tight rules. The campaign options are really well designed too. CQB is definitely on my list of favourite low-model-count games along with Warcry and Saga. Pack your gear and prep your one-liners!

Love Close Quarter Battle! The rule are tight and easy to understand, and the game has a great range of dynamic miniatures that are enjoyable to paint.

CQB is the perfect game for a cinematic action experience!

Take all the heart-pumping intensity from your favourite ‘80s action movies and put it on your tabletop. CQB is an homage to classics like Commando, Rambo, The Predator and more, where the the players tell stories pertaining to the missions the various paramilitary three-letter acronyms undertake to bring down the big bad cartels. Play as mercenaries to shut down labs, crooked cops and more to complete the tale, with branching success-driven campaigns to make the story yours. Highly recommended!

Solid mix of deep rules, with easy to get to table gameplay. I especially enjoy playing it either solo or Co-op where it has real big movie energy. Think Miami Vice meets Sicario.

The rules for this miniatures game are tight and the gameplay is fast which really brings the "Action Movie" theme to life. The scenarios are asymmetrical, so there are some games were simply surviving is good enough, and the way the scenarios link together to tell a story is a great addition. Within the first few turns most players will have a good grasp on the basic rules, and additional rules for vehicles, explosives, hostages, etc can be added as needed for any given scenario. While the setting for this rule book is operatives vs. drug cartel's, the system is flexible enough to recreate the action from any modern genre.

Have you ever wanted to take on the role of Arnie, Stallone, Willis, or any of those other 80s action heroes? If so, this awesome tabletop skirmish game is for you.

One or more players take on the role of a small team of operatives, private contractors hired to engage on military ventures, while one other player controls the operatives' enemies, who are usually greater in number but lesser in quality. The author recommends that players swap roles around to give everyone a chance to explore the options.

Fast-paced and easy to pick up, this game places an emphasis on storytelling and exciting action sequences, but has enough strategic depth that it will keep players engaged and finding new ways to complete their missions (or deal with those pesky operatives).

I picked this up through the Kickstarter that launched it, which also gave me a paper rulebook, tokens, and figures. The figures are a delight to paint, full of character but without the over-the-top detail that many minis have these days. They practically paint themselves!

A unique action-point skirmish miniatures game. Close Quarter Battle is narrative-focused (as opposed to tournament-focused) and is filled with theme, which really comes across in the mechanics. I love the amount of decisions this game presents you with. Each of the operatives has a limited amount of action points which can be spent on various actions during a turn. This gives you tactical flexibility, and makes you feel like you really have control over the miniatures. Each scenario is unique, and feels immersive, and the campaign system is just plain fun to go through. I really can't say enough about how much fun this game is. It even has solo rules!

CQB is an action packed modern day skirmish game that plays like your favourite action movie or Don Pendleton book.

The game pits a small team of operatives against gangs of criminals and drug lords in fast-flowing, fluid action. High volumes of automatic weapons fire are resolved by lesser soldiers attempting to pin down heroes and elite troopers with supressing fire, while those same heroes and elite troppers return fire with precise lethal shots. The shooting mechanics do a great job of capturing the action-movie feel of main characters versus mook #3.

The game's strategic and tactical depth come from the operative player's choices in how to go about achieving objectives in varied missions where both sides need to constantly recalculate risk vs reward and decide how many (or how few) victory points are worth exposing your operatives to a greater chance of failure.

CQB comes packed with missions that capture the feeling of your favourite action movies while also guiding you through different settings and environments that provide a cool gaming challenge that is simultaneously an interesting new take on modern military skirmish action while also showing some RPG roots in it's DNA.

Once I'm done playing through the scenarios contained in the book I'm looking forward to painting up my GI Joe miniatures and recreating some of my favourite Saturday morning memories on the tabletop.

I highly recommend CQB and can guarantee hours of fun.
