Nochet: Queen of Cities (RuneQuest)

About as perfect as a supplement can be. Insane amount of detail, intrique, fun, mayhem, politics, people and cults in a logical and exciting setting. My only complaints are that I can't give 6 stars and now I have to change my campaign so that the players end up in Nochet. Not really a problem since this books oozes ideas for roleplaying.

Couldn't imagine a better and more comprehensive book about Furthest. Invaluable resource for all adventures in lunar Tarsh. This surely is a new golden age for RQ.

I'm pumped right now. Tomorrow is the session 0 of me running the whole SiSS. This whole campaign is the one that put me back on the RQ horse. I started RQ back in the 80's. I was teenager and didn't really get the idea of RQ yet and scrounging around Prax wasn't engaging enough when I had played the Dragon Pass boardgame. But about a year ago I borrowed a copy of the new RQ and next thing I know I was searching for something to run. Stumbling into SSiS was a revelation. Excactly this I was searching for. Just reading the whole arc gave helped me understand the big picture more. And how clever this all is. You still get to play the whole shebang from stumbling teens to mighty heroes, see the big players and events and still the PC's have full agency, all this weird and wonderful gloranthan deep lore is infused into whole thing. And it gives an opportunity to really have PC's that are rooted in their culture/clan/tribe/family and play all that too instead of just murderhoboing around.

Just what I want in RQ. Wonderful combination of gritty realism, weird and wonderful deep lore. Haven't yet played it but already planning to include it in my soon starting campaign.

Being in my early 50's and have decades of gaming experience with various systems I thought I'd give Runequest another go. First time was in the 80's but I was too young, broke and teenager to really grasp what Glorantha was so I skimmed the books, run few half-hearted games and moved on. But I always had a nagging feeling that I was missing something. So last year I bought one book, loved it and gradually I got all the Chaosium books. But being in my 50's I also realize that there's finite number of campaigns I have time to run so I have a mindmap for at least the next decade for potential campaigns. But now I realized I just got to run something in Glorantha and I bought this one based on the review. And oh man is it good. It's that kind of book that you feel 5 stars isn't enough. It feels real and grounded and at the same time exciting, new and larger than life. The writing's top notch and you can really feel the love and experience the writer has for the world. Instead of skirting around the big, big stuff that's happening in the setting the campaign heads straight into the, world shaking, weird and wonderful but in a really smart way. It's definitely gonna be next thing I'm going to run and I'm really excited.
