I recently ran a one-shot (hopefully turning into an ongoing)--everything went exactly as advertised. Was able to fit in about twice the encounters as a usual DnD session. Gamed with two newbies, and was able to explain the rules within the first 10-15 minutes of the session. They took to the system like fish to water.

I suspect that the reviewer below's issues were specific to their group itself. Otherwise, this has become my go-to RPG. Easily (and addictively) hackable with smooth play.

Finally got the game to the table for a test run. The group had done some ICRPG, another rules-light game, not long ago, so I thought this would be an easy pick-up game… Nope. The dice system is light, and can quickly get you through a basic combat or task check, but what about everything else? The concept here seems to be: you will need to adjudicate the details. And for seasoned RPGers, there will be details. For a system that prides itself on quick resolution via minimal rule look-up, I think it neglects to acknowledge that players will either try to find a rule that isn’t there, or will want to discuss the merits of a new rule/mechanic to handle that particular situation. Either way, not quick. For example, before starting the adventure, I reviewed with them the Wealth rule. It is abstracted into levels. No coins. You are a certain ‘level’ of wealth. And wealth advancement/loss is arbitrary, based on narrative - which, again, is adjudicated. Having something so abstract that affects so many other aspects of the game was obviously going to throw up some red flags. There went our first 15 minutes. And with no resolution - primarily because we decided it was going to be a one-shot and thus it was mostly irrelevant. The same issues were prevalent with magical effects. And combat tactics. And on and on. I shouldn’t have given the players the rulebook. If your players don’t ask too many questions, or don’t think outside of the 2-dimensional d6-box that these rules put them in, this game may play as fast and smoothly as it claims. But our first session went slower than a game of 5e with all the stopping, hammering out details and new core concepts, and having multiple discussions of “can I”. I think it would have been much easier if I just told them it was a board game. All-in-all, I would not put this in the category of a rules-light system, but rather an incomplete game concept with some assembly required.

If your goal is a fast, incredibly entertaining, simple to understand system this would be my favorite system of all time.

This is the game that brough my rule-wearied spouse back to playing RPG's with the rest of my family, and it has been so fun. I highly recommend this book, and especially recommend getting it in print.

Pros:

  • Simple system
  • Works very well. In my opininon for a lot of adventures works better than more populars aleternatives with two D in the tittle
  • Fun and interesting mechanics (Karma, magic system, miracles system, Hero Dice, explode dices, etc)
  • Complete manual (all-in-one: rules + monsters + items) in concise size
  • Fun and good texts
  • Visually it's pleasing
  • Low price. When compare to other options the price is very good.

Cons:

  • Not level system progression

Generally I'm not a fan of simple systems and I don't like systems without level progression. However this system works very well in my games, is fun, fast and fluid, and the players enjoy it.

As a Fantasy concise system I give him a perfect score 100/100.

As a Fantasy system in general I give him a score of 95/100. In my opinion, to be perfect the system needs some system of progression by levels or perhaps tiers (with for example 3 tiers). I don't know if is possible to include the level progression without breaking the balance of the game. In fact is well know that some populars games with level progressions only works well at a specific interval of levels and simply breaks in high levels. Before reading and directing games with this systems my opinion was that rpg are strong associated with systems of level progression but my opinion has changed. It is obviously possible do and plays a good rpg experience without level progression.

To sum up: I Highly Recomend the purchase of this book.

What a breath of fresh air! This is by far my favourite rules light system I've both read and used. You can hold all the game rules in your head. It was easy to teach the game to my wife before we played a short adventure together. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to run a one player adventure because the Karma and Hero Dice systems give characters a few ways to avoid bad rolls that could cause an early death. Those game mechanics are fun for players too. One of the problems with most other systems is that players that want to play wizards often have to waste a lot of time reading lists of spells before they even create a character. The spell system here is both simple and elegant. It's as easy to create a wizard or a warrior. The character creation rules strike a nice balance between quick character creation and customization. It's easy to homebrew new classes or inclinations if you want even more options. If you don't like the loot system, then use your own. You can also convert monsters or adventures from nearly any system on the fly. I like this system so much that it has replaced every other system I've used or read. This is all I want or need. I'm sick of rules getting in the way of the game I want to play. I don't have the time or energy to waste.

Great simple game! This is what I play with my family. The D6 mechanics are easy to explain and understand. I apreciate a complete game that's complex enough and interesting, yet still fits in a small book!

I love the concept of this ultra rules light system. TTRPGs have always been about telling a fun story as well as being total badasses. The character creation in this system is phenomenally tailored to unlock the imagination of new and old players of TTRPGs such as DnD 5e. The spell casting and limited resoure tracking in this game really frees up combat and the lack of stats really helps new players who do not want to memorize which bonus applies when and goes where. This game is perfect for getting creativity going. On that note, DM Scotty is a really creative person. If you have ever seen his youtube craft videos, you can attest to this. Really a standout game for veterans and newbies alike.

The mechanics of the system are so easy to use and make so much sense while being so flexible you really can use it for any hame type. Scotty really has kept all the fun parts you love about ttrpg but took out all the parts that slow you down and take you out of the game.

This thing is what all the cool kids are playing, Straight from the underground. From the mind of the mad man DM Scotty. It's a mayhem engine that never derails. If Dungeons and Dragons is pop music, EZD6 is METAL. It's fast, furious and a little bit insane.

EZD6 is the solution to a question I've struggled with in my 40+ years of being a game master: Why do so many games have so many unnecessary rules? Most games pile rules upon rules in a bizarre and unnecessary proliferation that only increases the amount of time lost to pausing the game to look up obscure rules and rules lawyering.

Not EZD6.

EZD6 functions elegantly to strip away every rule that is unnecessary for play, every bit of unnecessary math, to create an elegant, swift, intuitive system that can be quickly grasped, learned, and taught. Required math is single digit addition (using Karma points to enhance rolls); the majority of rolls rely on number recognition, which allows for swift resolution.

The magic system is quickly resolved and improvisational (promoting creative solutions and freeing the player from memorizing reams of dead trees worth of information) while also being chaotic and unpredictable.

I've already begun an EZD6 campaign, and the players spend far more time actually role-playing (rather than asking rules questions and trying to figure out optimized combos) than with any other system I can remember over decades of gaming.

If you like rules-intensive systems, then EZD6 will not likely be your go-to game, but for for someone like me who thinks that an RPG shouldn't reward the player with the most and deepest rules knowledge over the first-time player, who wants to keep the disruptions to immersion at a minimum, and who simply wants to get to the core activity - role-playing! - with rules that support the GM and provide quick resolutions, then EZD6 is a game you need to try.

Great Book hard cover came with in a week. Not run the the system yet book looking forward to running the game with minimal book keeping required and rules that dont get in the way of RP
