If the world collectively agreed to replace works of fiction with RPG rulebooks there is no doubt that D&D would take the place of Lord of the Rings, and Call of Cthulhu would obviously sub in for the book of the same name.

Goblonia, in all its encouraged chaos, and punk ideals would replace Sir Terry Pratchett’s discworld series. The atmosphere is oozing with the charm and frankly insane rules and laws which only a mind as brilliantly twisted as The Patrician could think up. Intentionally failing to add chaos to a scene is one of many systems in place to take the game master's control of a situation and tie it into a balloon animal. Want to get your crew past an alarm system? Sure, you could sneak past it; or you could intentionally set the alarm off with your face and when the guards come to see what’s happening have the rest of your crew jump them. The setting of Goblonia is drenched in the (or at least covered in the thick, not-so-liquid) water of the river Ankh; established boroughs recall you of The Shades, and even of the opulent Ankh itself with The Tops.
