Is a Joke, but if you want to, is not a joke.
One should not be smiling and laughting when reading World of Darkness stories and material. The goth horror should not be this funny.
But it is. And only Grant, the author, could have pulled this out.
What started as a joke became a source material that's is still funny, but that can't deny that deep layer of disturbing horror. The implications of this Were-Rabbits being food for the rest of the Fera, and that they not only relish in their mandate, but even empowered it, make us want to laught more to distract our mind from thinking too much of it.
And the best part is you can actually try to play a Lepix or use them in a chronicle. Here are all you need. So go for it, make your players decide what to do when that nice old man, that appeared when they were dying from hunger, change forms as a hulking Were-Rabbit, just to offering himself as food for them... if they can catch him.
Or run your version of the Turtle vs the Hare. Play the consecuences of that fateful race of an Ao and a Lepix.
Let them be myths, or realities, of your World of Darkness and decided if you want to laught with the Lepix... or eat them.
When you will Rage... of hunger?
(Still want them to be Time Mages... maybe next year?)
