Ran this adventure during Six Season In Sartar. With a few changes to locations and timeline this adventure can be used anywhere. Its encounters a fairly tough, and will give the players a real challenge. Overall don't pass up on this short adventurer.

A well written and well layed out adventure. It forces the players to make a decison about a morally difficult subject. It played well. Top marks

If you have 7 mothers worshippers in your group, such as Vostor, this adventure a must buy ! If not, I would still highly recommend buying A short Detour. The story puts PCs in a position to make a meaningful choice at some point and all the possible consequences are detailed. Several interesting NPCs you might want to use in your own stories. Plus : thoughts, ideas and rules on how to handle the Chaos Rune in your game.

Really good to see the breadth of adventures possible in Glorantha - and is not just a great scenario but has some great ideas for longer term issues.

An adventure in Glorantha's long tradition of moral grey areas. As other reviewers note it can slide in anywhere in Dragon Pass or Prax with a minimum of tweaking. The same is true of its timeframe, though prior to 1602 in Sartar or 1613 in Prax the detour will take a bit longer. While the adventure itself closes fairly quickly it has enormous plot-hook generating potential regardless of the ending achieved. It's a perfect vehicle for re-introducing characters "returning" to Sartar to the entanglements of clan and kin.

This is a really impressive adventure for RuneQuest. It's beautifully presented, and the writing is clear and imaginative. It does a great job of signposting the various different ways that adventurers can work their way through it.

There are several antagonists, with some obvious villains and others who might or might not become foes depending on the choices the players make.

At the adventure's heart are well-described characters with an interesting narrative that will leave players with difficult choices to make. This is what really sets this scenario apart: there are things to fight and kill, yes, but players will have to think about how their adventurers respond to an unusual situation.

The book also has a useful appendix with rules about Chaos that go beyond the core RQ rulebooks, and could be useful well beyond the bounds of this particular scenario.

ok, so... this is where Runequest Roleplaying gets deep. The dilemma this story puts player characters in, is both well thought out and not easy to resolve. Even from a GM's perspective it makes you think [what would i do, if the players do X what happens next]

A nice mini adventure that might create a cultural crossroads for your campaign....

Where you go from here might really depend on how it all turns out.

I'm almost nervous to run it :D

On top of that, this is a relly well produced book, nice layout, decent illustrations. I'd love to own a physical copy to be honest.

is it worth the cover price?

hell yes .. and more.

Great addition to the library.

This scenario offers a moral dilemma to characters trying to do the right thing from the get-go - already the initial scene depicted on the cover might give characters with local knowledge a difficult choice.

The main antagonists have well-defined motivations and agendas, giving the GM a wide range of possible outcomes, and offer themselves as possible recurring characters in a campaign.

GM and players will benefit from some familiarity with Orlanthi cultural values such as honor and hospitality. And while violence is always an option and all necessary game mechanics are provided, the scenario will benefit from avoiding direct confrontations.

This is an excellent adventure that can be inserted seamlessly into any campaign set in Glorantha. With slight adjustments, the Praxians could substitute for Orlanthi and you could set this in Prax. The same could be said for anyplace on Glorantha. What I like most is this adventure leans heavy on roleplay. The artwork is top notch and the product is very professionally done. My only advice to improve the scenario is to offer some helpful suggestions on what to do in the climactic finish if the adventurers confront the final boss and they don't have what he's after. That's a pretty minor critique, however, as any competent GM can easily wing it if they plan ahead for such a possible eventuality. This adventure handles some questions about Chaos that I've not seen in other Gloranthan adventures. I really love how it expands on that aspect of the game setting. Our antagonist isn't a simple cardboard villain. As Ernalda says, there are always alternatives. Highly recommend this adventure to anyone who loves Glorantha and wants an easy, quick story to insert into their campaign that will make their players think.
