An Encounter Most Fowl (7 pages at DriveThruRPG, don’t buy it) is a Halloween themed adventure for Dungeon Crawl Classics, but I used Swordsmen and Skeletons (2 pages, free/pay what you want, same place). To solo this, I used FlexTale Solo Adventuring Toolkit (613 pages at DriveThruRPG). I used my six characters that I used on May 6, 2019. The adventure started when the PCs heard rumors in the town about an old abandoned house. When they got close to it, they saw the graveyard and a NPC. He star

I do not recommend this product. In my opinion, it is not worth three dollars. Only two encounters: one NPC and one "monster". There are no maps. There is no treasure.

Crows - D20 TTRPG - V.0.12

Date Added: 10/16/2023 22:23:11

During the last few days I have soloed my way through A Shadowed House (free/pay what you want at DriveThruRPG). It is for D&D 5TH Edition, but I used Crows-D20 TTRPG. I used the Solo Adventurer’s Toolbox (Bimler) to solo this module. For PCs, I created three acolytes who worship The Goddess of Transformation, a specialist, and two adventurers. The adventure started when the PCs were hired to escort a caravan. When the caravan gets to a woods, the PCs check out the odd whispering sounds. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse and they are separated from the caravan. It suddenly gets dark and it rains. They eventually get to a large dark house (which just happens to be in a pocket dimension).

They go inside and explore seven “areas”. They encounter two normal house spirits, one angry house spirit, two cursed skulls, and one normal ghost. The PC Aggie transforms the normal ghost into a substance which has the shape, thickness, and flexibility of a playing card. Aggie does the same thing to Lydia the ghost. On the second floor, they explore six rooms. They deal with their fourth fear check, find an Octagonal stone carving, four pieces of jewelry, and lots of books. They take it all. Things get ugly in the attack. First, the PCs kill two zombies. Next, they have to deal with the spirit Jacob. The PC Alice attempts to transform him into a card but botches the spell. Jacob possesses her. Maraden the PC transforms Alice/Jacob into a pig. The PCs grab the loot and the pig and exit the house.

They check out the graveyard and then the tomb. They decide to spend the night in the tomb. In the morning the sun is shining. Healings spells are cast and then the goddess is consulted concerning the acolyte who is now a pig. The words received are, “Cook the pig, but not the head. Eat the cooked pig.” So, the PCs head back to the main road and discover that the caravan has waited for them. It is decided that it is time to set up camp (it is still morning). They kill the pig and start to cook it. In the afternoon, a crow eats the eye of the pig and Alice is now a crow. The pig is ready to eat at dusk. Everyone enjoys the meal and the stories that are told by the fire.

Give this fantasy RPG a try!

Troika! The Science Fantasy RPG

Spoilers - You have been warned . . .For the past few days, I have soloed my way through the adventure that is included in Troika! Numinous Edition (120 pages, at DriveThruRPG). I used the six characters in Active Time Battle!!! (8 pages, free/pay what you want at the same place). The adventure starts at the front desk of The Blancmange & Thistle. They are told that they can have the last room that is available. It is on the eighth floor which is also the location of a big party. After the PCs pay, they are invited to that party. In the lift they try to converse with the lift attendant, but that is a one-way conversation. On the second floor, The Old Lady enters the lift. She asks lots of questions. The PCs answer her questions and get awarded with a bonbon apiece.

On the second floor, The Gas Form enters the lift. The PCs can’t breathe, so they get out on that floor. They take the stairs up (no more elevator trips for them). They find the merchant on the third floor and they sell their bonbons for coins. On the fourth floor the PCs encounter a woman and her tigers. The PCs do not bother the tigers. On the fifth floor, they notice that their group has increased to seven. He is the Mysterious Friend. Further down the hall they are attacked by Spiteful Owls. The PC mechanic has a drone which does take damage. The PCs kill three of the owls and the others fly out the broken windows. For loot, the PCs collect owl feathers. On the sixth floor stairs, they encounter puddles of Demon Seawater. Two of the PCs can’t get past the puddles and the PC Android attacks the PC named Kunai. The wounded Kunai follows the advice of his ancestral totem. This enables him to bring back the Android to his senses. Kunai makes sure everyone gets past the puddles and he drags them if he has to.

On level seven, they encounter The Slug Monarch and his Heralds. The PCs pay the toll with owl feathers. In the hallway they see two Mysterious Strangers, but the PCs do not interfere with what is going on. They climb some more stairs and do not take The Alien Maw option. Instead, they make attempts to jump from step to step to avoid falling down into the Wide Carnivorous Sky. The PC Felicia and the android fail the attempt and fall. On the top step, the rest of the PCs find a sleeping woman and their two friends who had fallen. Next to the woman is a spellbook (missing some pages). The PCs quietly take the spellbook and continue on. This puts them in The Dream World of Madame Belloza, but this is an adventure for another day.

Meridian Games OTHERTIME #1 - The Cleanie Genie
Publisher: Meridian Games

Date Added: 10/09/2023 15:20:27

Recently, I soloed my way through Meridian Games OTHERTIME #1 - The Cleanie Genie for DCC (22 pages, free at DriveThruRPG). I used Flextale Infinite Adventures Volume 4: Western Realm of Aquilae (same place) as the solo engine combined with a yes/maybe/no oracle. So, I created six first level characters and threw them into this wacky adventure (my advice to you is to use second level characters). The PCs started in the town of Hazbot where they heard rumors about a structure deep in the woods. Eighty minutes later they were at the structure (a giant bar of soap). They were suddenly attacked by cursed janitors. Soon the cleric (it figures) and the halfling were dead along with two of the janitors. Bead the female magic user cast a charm spell and now the janitors call for a temporary truce. The PCs loot the bodies of their dead friends and go back to Hazbot. They hire a turnip farmer and an indentured servant. After the group sets up camp, the royal scribe finds them, but they can not help him.

On the second day, they fight and kill more cursed janitors and some giggling sponges. This time the rogue dies along with the indentured servant. They go back to town and sell soap pieces, sponges, and an amber medallion. They recruit another rogue and hire a dock worker and an ostler. On the third day they buy a bow and three crossbows. They go out to the field to practice all day. On the fourth day they kill more giggling sponges, but the dock worker and the ostler die. They go back to town and sell their loot. On the fifth day they recruit a Ronald Dweebs from the town. The group kill the last of the giggling sponges but Ronald dies (sigh). On the sixth day they try again to recruit and hire at the town of Hazbot but no one is interested (imagine that). So, they walk all day to the nearest village. On the seventh day they recruit a smuggler and hire an animal trainer. A villager asks them to smell a new perfume. Actually, he is a drug dealer and they are smelling spores. The warrior and thief become instantly addicted. Well, this is a fine mess. Maybe you will have better luck with this.

Trick or Treat: A Fate Accelerated Adventure
Publisher: Peculiar Books
by Bob V. G. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 10/03/2023 06:25:43

Spoilers. You have been warned. I did make changes to the adventure . . . .For the past few days, I have soloed my way through TRICK OR TREAT A Fate Accelerated adventure by Michael Goldrich (28 pages, at DriveThruRPG). Fate Accelerated Edition • A Fate Core Build is free/pay what you want at the same place (50 pages). For the solo engine, I changed four lines in Candython. I did use the six PC characters that are provided in the Fate adventure.

The adventure started when the PCs (5th graders) were approached at school by Tino. He explained that bad things were happening somewhere else and needed heroes. All they needed to do was trick or treat at his house, get one purple candy for each kid with one extra for Max. They will need to bring back Max from this “other” place. The kids follow the instructions and eat the purple candy at dusk. They now appear in the land of Candython – A place in the universe with routine interplanar travel. Teams of teenagers across the multiverse participate in a closed course trick-or-treat competition at this location. They now have “powers”. For the next two scenes, the PCs have to battle Jacks (animated Jack-o’-Lantern monsters). The PCs win the battles, but Fate Points are being used.

In the next scene, the PCs are saved from the bullies by the Pie Maker in her backyard. The PCs win against the Big Jacks in scene six. In scene seven, the PCs find themselves in an abandoned house. Inside, they find a variety of things which include pumpkins, knives, a clown Halloween costume, a spell book, a lost kid, and a whetstone. It is here that the PCs battle Pumpkin Dolls. The PCs win, but Gracy goes down and disappears (she goes back to the real world). Scene eight finds the PCs in the attic which has taken water damage. Leah’s foot goes through the rotten floor and the Boss Jack attacks. Nathan goes down (back home). At this point, Leah says, “I don’t want to fight anymore. I just want to trick or treat.” Boss Jack freezes in place and blinks. The other three kids say the same thing. Boss Jack says, “Me too” and turns into Max the kid. The PCs give him his purple candy and the clown costume. He eats the candy, puts on the costume, and they then go trick or treating. They are able to get to six homes and then the Candython event is over. The five of them then find themselves back in their friendly neighborhood and they meet up with Gracy and Nathan. They eat their candy and talk about their adventure.

A Missing Antiquarian - An Introductory Mystery for Vaesen
Publisher: Free League Publishing
by Bob V. G. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 09/28/2023 17:11:54

Spoilers ahead . . .You have been warned! A Missing Antiquarian (12 pages, free/pay what you want at DriveThruRPG) is a fantasy mystery adventure for Vaesen, but I used 7th Sea Second Edition. To create my solo engine, I combined a yes/maybe/no oracle with The Adventurer’s Tarot: The Empress Deck Rules (6 pages, free at the same place). I picked out five entry level characters for this fun adventure. The adventure started when the PCs received a letter. It was sent by Erik, from the village of Balsta. Erik’s fiancé (Hilda) is missing and he wants answers. The first thing the PCs do, when they get to the village, is talk to the locals. There is talk that there is a devil involved and that it is in the woods. Next, the PCs talk to Eric at Hilda’s bookshop. He does not believe in the nonsense about a devil. The PCs want to get into Hilda’s personal quarters which are in the back of the shop. No key can be found, so the PCs want to break the door down. Eric stops them from doing that. At this point, the village is hit with a magic fog and the players find themselves in a magic trap. They try to disarm it but fail. Each PC takes one dramatic wound.

After this, the PCs talk to the village leader and start asking him pointed questions. He immediately goes into defense mode and tells them to leave the village (this was the result of a bad dice roll). So, the PCs go to the woods and look for this devil. Instead of a devil, they find a tiefling bard named Chronos looking for a tavern where he can gamble. The PCs explain to him that the village is looking for a devil and that is the last place he wants to be. Juliana uses this opportunity to pick his pocket (a success). Chronos now wanders off in a different direction. The PCs get hungry, so they sit down and eat in the woods. After this they have an encounter with Hilda the ghost. They try to have a conversation with her, but she attacks. Blair the PC takes damage. So, the PCs head back to the village and it is dark when they get there. Juliana is able to pick the lock. They enter the bookshop. She is not able to pick the door that leads to Hilda’s personal quarters. The players break down the door. They search the books for information about ghosts (a pass result). They search the room for hidden stuff (a fail). At this point it is late and they spend the night right where they are.

At dawn they leave the village and head back to the woods. They are convinced that the body of Hilda will be close to where they saw her ghost. They do find the body and a note in her hand. It seems to incriminate Eric. They miss out on some of the clues at this location (a fail). They take the note back to Eric. The PCs show the note to Eric and other merchants. The PCs ask about the writing style. A merchant says, “That is Anders’ handwriting!”. At this point, Anders shows up and tells them to leave the village. Juliana’s reaction is to pickpocket Anders (a success), but there is a witness, “Thief!”. The PCs give the note to Eric and run out of town. They do manage to escape. Well, things certainly could have gone better, but the PCs did gain a total of thirty gold pieces from the two pickpocket attempts. Maybe you will have better luck. :)

Critical 10: Play Test Version

Date Added: 09/19/2023 18:32:16

Recently, I soloed my way through an adventure that was included in MOADESTAR WIP (34 pages, free/pay what you want at DriveThruRPG). It is a fun adventure for Critical 10: Play Test Version (46 pages, same price and place). To create my solo engine, I changed four lines in The Anime Hack (46 pages, same place). I created six characters. They work for MIB and can be teleported to different multiverses and back in time. Their first mission sent them to a medieval world. They were never given a good reason why for this particular mission, but they did get some details in the briefing.

The adventure started them off in a grassy field. They were dressed in the clothing and armor of the time except for Katina. She insisted on wearing her steampunk cosplay outfit. They saw some smoke off in the distance, so that is where they went. This brought them to the village of Treymon. They talked to the guard and had to pay to get in. Inside the walled village, they received more details about the goblin raids on caravans. After this, it was getting late so they spent the night in the village. In the morning they went to the site of the ambushes and found some clues. The PC Combs set up a trap and then they waited for the goblins. After it got dark, they heard the sound of the trap going off. It had captured a goblin which was hanging by his ankle. The battle started. The PCs killed thirteen goblins, but Katina went down. Combs used his smoke grenade and the PCs escaped with Katina. They spent the night at the village so that they could recover from their wounds.

On Day 3, they went back to the battle site and then followed the goblin trail back to the goblin cave. Ragnar killed five goblins with his grenade. The goblins retreated further back into their cave. Katina set up her C4 at the cave entrance. When a goblin went to check it out, she blew him up. At this point, the only goblins left alive in the cave were females and children. The PCs explained to them why the battle happened. They had to communicate with gestures and dirt diagrams. The PCs then went back to the village. Prad the PC explained to the villagers what had happened and then got them involved in a game of cards. As he was getting ready to collect his earnings (copper pieces), the PCs were teleported out. Prad was not happy.

Spoilers – You have been warned - For the past few days, I have soloed my way through SC5 Hellflower (20 pages, free at DriveThruRPG). It is for Barbarians of Lemuria Legendary Edition (110 pages, same place) which I did use. I used one PC out of this RPG and four out of the adventure (pre-generated characters). I used Magic the Gathering cards as the solo engine along with a yes/maybe/no oracle. Here are the highlights of the adventure. The adventure started with the PCs in the town market. They heard two rumors (one of them false) and then walked to the garden of Sforza the Scarlet Dreamer. Tamsin was able to climb the wall to gain access, but the others had to go in through the main entrance.

Their first encounter was a box turtle. They picked him up and put him in a bag. The second encounter was Pumpkin Head. They killed him and soon found a Seal of Cleansing. They continued on and ran into him again. This time Tamsin the PC broke the seal. Pumpkin Head broke in half and then disappeared. Next, the PCs found a scroll of Carbonize. When Turnip Head showed up, Tamsin cast that spell and killed him. The next encounter was Gourd Head and Scarecrow. The PCs won that battle. The PCs burned the two bodies. Moving on, they noticed one trap and were able to avoid it. Rokas used his agility to avoid the Saber Tree. At the Lotus Pond, they were able to collect some raw ingredients for a local drug. Rokas was able to see through an illusion at The Grove.

At this location they did find the NPC Naram rooted into the ground (he had been a bad boy). Tamsin freed him with a dispel magic. He joined the party and told them about The Heart of Aminah. He led them to the well and Rokas and Sal went down the well using Naram’s silk rope. Down there they encountered Aminah. She told them her story and gave them The Heart (a gem). Sal sensed that her story was “off”. They went back up and had a discussion. They decide to leave the garden. A few minutes later Naram makes a grab for the gem (I told you he was bad). The entire group ends up on the ground, fighting for the gem. Naram ends up dead along with Tamsin. The PCs loot the bodies and head back to town. They sell the gem and the raw ingredients at the marketplace. They keep the box turtle. At the tavern, they “pour one out” for Tamsin. Maybe you will have better luck.

I used a yes/maybe/no oracle as my solo engine. I created four PCs to take on this adventure. This fun adventure started with a meet and greet. They took a tour around the campus which was followed by a reception. The good time ended when they received a message from the villain. People got sick and the caterers became aggressive showing their true colors. Three of the three PCs picked up folding chairs and used them as weapons. Mystara used her combat spell. They defeated the caterers. Silent Shadows the NPC took the sick students to the bowling alley. The police were called to take away the caterers.

During the waiting time, Gwen successfully questioned the caterers about the events leading up to this. Gwen discovered that all of the caterers came from Camden in England. Della found broken bottles in the area where the caterers prepared the food and drink. She used her Sharp Sense of Smell on the drops of liquid. Gwen used her Contact to get transportation, and the team eventually arrived in Camden. They successfully restrained the frenzied mob (affected by the drug). The PCs used their agility to get past the next mob. Della’s sense of smell finally got them to an old factory which had been converted to a mall on the inside. To get past the guards, they used their folding chairs again with the one combat spell (Mystara).

On the inside, the had to deal with goons and the villain. Carl’s Mirage spell of a large demon did not scare away the goons. The PCs did defeat the villain with their usual battle tactics. Two bystanders got hurt by the goons before they gave up. Gwen healed them using her Breath of Life. So, mission accomplished.

Note – in my opinion this should be a d8 system instead of a d6 system. Yes, the difficulty numbers would need to be increased.

Spoilers - - - -

For the last few days, I have soloed my way through Han Cluster RPG: Jumpstart (30 pages at DriveThruRPG). I used the adventure and the PCs that are included in this jumpstart. I changed four lines in Hulks and Horrors (same place) to make the 156 page document my solo engine. So, my one word for describing this would be “challenging”. My six PCs started in three different locations that were very far apart. They do have the ability to become uncarapaced. I can only compare it to having an out-of-the-body experience except the X-ghost can use special equipment and can attempt to effect the physical world. Edo, Coral, and her Nex-pet started on a transport ship. They ended up on the planet Onyx inside a broadcast hub. They were captured. The Nex-pet shut down the power at the hub. It had its own agenda. Sirka and Trey started on a Light Freighter. They ended up in a ship to ship battle, but their ship malfunctioned and the enemy ship got away.

Krak and Secayda started on a space elevator at the Hope Expedition Museum in the city of Novus on Edenic. Secayda had scored rare tickets for her and Krak to tour the ancient Hope Expedition colony ship Thora in geo-synchronous orbit over the planet Edenic. They eventually had to use their electronic skills to take control of the rogue ship Thora. They were successful and avoided a huge disaster. Days later, the Han Cluster authorities are able to piece together what had happened and Krak and Secayda are hailed as the heroes of Edenic by its individual citizens, by its government, and even by the members of its military.

Give this a try!
