Critical Fumble Table

Excellent job creating a USABLE Crit Fumble chart! This feels fun and balanced and I adored when my players were fighting a Giant Crayfish and rolled 11 on two crit fails in a row so it just kept laughing at them. XD They hated that Crayfish so much more because of this chart! Great work! Thanks!

It's only 10 items that are not really that well described if you're like me--looking for immersive material. It's a small amount of detail about each piece and then info on what kind of magic effects they have. One is a joke on Nutella. It's just Nutella. It's only a buck, but I was expecting it to be more descriptive.

Savage Sisters

Having played this a couple times now, I just gotta say it's one of the best indie-pub TTRPGs I've played to date. The game is beautifully, thoughtfully designed with attention to detail and nuance. Every possible care is taken to ensure respect for First Peoples whose cultures this title seeks to emulate in a delicate way as to create meaningful, provocative experiences from which the player can draw entertainment and even a bit of wisdom.

In my most recent session, we first fell into a pit of sinking sands which lead to an abandoned Temple where we fought a mighty serpant monster, then explored an underground tomb in search of a sacred artifact, then held counsel with other sodals (the game's word used in place of "tribe" or "clan") to determine if some outside groups would be allowed to encroach on our territories. All three stories were incredible, unique, and exciting despite their very different focuses.

The round-robin style GM experience isn't required but is definitely worth giving a shot. It was very fun to see what everyone would come up with when playing within the spirit of the rules and making these stories up on the spot.

The game plays quickly; about 20 minutes per story is recommended. So we played three stories in an hour and change. Character creation takes literally a couple minutes (Make a name, decide who is which class, and determine what your character looks like) and couldn't be easier to understand.

The book itself is well laid-out and full of appropriate artwork. The character sheet is adequate but also lovely in design. You literally only need one die apiece to play, and the rules are very simple to pickup. Also, if you've played any of 9th Level's Polygon system games, you've already got the basic idea for how it works.

Ultimately, I highly recommend this hidden gem of a game, and hope you'll give it a shot! Definitely worth the price!

I LIKE this! I'm more of a music/dancer bard, but this one had me reconsidering for the idea of being a stage magician styled Bard. Not something I'd really thought of! I love the flash powder ability and the proficiencies options. Really good job!

Very well laid out and a balanced tradition. I like the concept and it is well embedded into the powers here. The idea of natural Entropy is perfectly presented. The last ability sounds freaking awesome and nothing is overpowered. Great job.

Brandon's Big Book of Bards

Okay, I'm impressed. The colleges in this book are fun, unique, and balanced. I like the way the author sculpts the abilities to the concept.

But what brought me to this book was the addition of new spells for bards! I was excited to get some more bard-specific powers and I really loved the cantrips I found. Discordant Note is now my bard's go-to damage cantrip, and I will definitely take Animate Instrument with her next cantrip slot.

The Spellsongs are honestly really cool and I want to take them all. I love that you included ideas of what songs/tales the bard is spinning to create these effects. Great roleplaying fuel!

The Items are fantastic! Wonderous items made with bards in mind? Yes please! I am going to not-so-subtly encourage my DM to throw a few of these around during our campaign. I want that Instrument of the Master, thank you!

THANK you for detailing the profession of Barding. I absolutely ADORE this level of information to play off of!

I also looove the rules for using Instruments as weapons! You filled in a huge gap here and my DM will be using these rules in our campaign now! My Harp-playing Bard thanks you for her new ranged weapon! Ironically, I thought about trying to convince my DM to let me make a combo harp/bow to begin with in an Elven style, (really just for flavor) but now with these rules that's not even a stretch.

Honestly this is hands-down the best bard supplement I've found so far on this site, and I've downloaded dozens. Thank you so much for a fantastic addition to my campaign and my bard's build. Bravo Brandon! You are a gentleman and a scholar! Or maybe just a bard. ;)

I love this. It's just a fantastic supplement for anyone who really loves ROLEplaying their bard. Totally worth the cost and printer paper/ink. ;)

The inclusion of an extra book of more of the same was a bonus!

Thank you so much author! Totally a great idea.

Bard - College of Clairvoyance
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild

I love the concept of this college. However, it has a few issues.

One, the level 14 ability, Clarity of Mind, is completely redundant with the 3rd level ability, Foresight. If you can gain advantage on an ability check on one, and also on the other through the same mechanic, the higher level ability does not add any new capability to your bard at all.

The addition of a Diviner's kit is awesome and i love it, however it comes with no explanation of a mechanic for fortune telling. This would be pretty important for its use.

I found one typo: In Clarity of Mind: "after you roil the die"

Overall, a good college. I highly recommend a replacement for the level 14 ability, and the addition of fortune telling mechanics. I would play with this college if it had these changes, but for now, it just doesn't work for me.

Creator Reply:
Thank you for the feedback! Looking over it again, I completely see the redundancy of the 14th level ability, and will fix that soon. I'll work on a fortune telling mechanic, though the diviner's kit was mainly meant to serve for divination material components, as well as a background mechanic for an occupation, similar to brewer's supplies, cartographer's tools, or a gaming set, but it definitely has potential to be more than that, so I'll rethink this approach. Thanks!
