One of my favorite modules to run, because the flow is just so simple and easy to follow along as a DM. Exploring Paliparan and meeting various NPCs really make for a memorable experience every single time, and not to mention the possible improvs needed to help keep things immersive and natural is a good exercise.

I enjoyed presenting this well written and original adventure. The Story hook is meaningful and understandable even to new players and the mix or linear and sandbox encounters provide versatility to your session. Would fit in well with most Fey inspired campaigns. A very original and interesting Archfey concept.

This adventure is a masterpiece and if you have the chance to run it for your friends or play it, please do! The concept of a fey domain based around familiars is incredibly creative, and the callbacks to different AL familiars is a nice walk down memory lane. The construction of the encounters and the ability to explore the domain of Paliparan makes it such that no two playthroughs are alike. Further, it embraces the non-combat encounter spirit of this season of DC's. Finally and best of all, the core of the story is a poetic reminder that we need more love, kindness, and empathy in the world. Bravo Paul G, truly, bravo. Your best work yet!

I just finished running this adventure! It has been a pleasure presenting these Dungeoncraft Spotlight adventures for my players. I wanted to present our collective feedback of our experience:

  • The premise for the adventure was great! I cannot throw a stick into my player base without hitting someone that does not have a familiar. Instant adventure hook! The players were grateful to see that! Relevant hook for many.
  • They also enjoyed a faction-oriented hook; something I haven't seen DC/CCC materials in awhile.
  • I appreciated a culture-oriented sleuth and puzzle. Very creative!
  • The archfey of this Domain of Delight was also creative and the means to communicate with it was unique. It was something that drew me to this particualr adventure as a DM.
  • The Goats! Some of my players remembered them! I even have Mince's cert! It was great to have a not so far back blast from the past! Giving a nod to past designs is something I'm always thrilled to see.

The adventure has quite a bit of material in it that may press against more time-constrained events, but the designer provides sidebars to help mitigate that. Even so, I found myself presenting clues through the main NPCs Edgar Snow and In~igo. We ran out of time quickly exploring Paliparan. i could have gone a few hours with a RP-heavy group here! I had each of the players select an area on the map and I described it in narrative and we pressed to the end! It was still an enjoyable experience. I would have liked to see more of Dimali in the narrative of the adventure (as the real culprit here), but still not a show stopper.

Bottom line-players enjoyed it, and I enjoyed presenting it. There is more than enough material to revisit in several sessions if you wish. If you haven't pushed the button on this purchase-do it. Well done DM Paul G! I wish you continued success in your future work!

This was a fun one shot, but if you fail the end, it just kind of ends and that felt kinda bad, but I thought it was a good intro and was fun.

I love this adventure from the title till the last scene! Very vivid, with locations and NPC detailed enough to roleplay and to answer to players' demands at the same time, and it creates opportunities to replay with completely different locations and quests. We had a bit slow start with the questgiver, but then in the domain we all have just a great adventure. It's my first attempt of review, so it is short and emotinal, but I strongly recommend to find That Familiar.

A fun adventure with an interesting little twist to start you out. :)

A little bit sandboxy in a good way, you have a chance to explore a new realm and gather clues. My players were able to hit every encounter with a non-combat solution (even if the "non-combat" solution involved a combat-related roll). I've been enjoying that aspect of Season 11 quite a bit, and this is a good demonstration of it.

As a side note, the layout was really clean and organized, making running a sandbox liket this rather easy. It also feels like there's a lot of room to run it a little bit longer or shorter, depending on what time you have available to run teh adventure.

Thanks again!

Great story-telling opportunities in a vivid, fun atmosphere. Felt like a scavenger hunt! I enjoyed populating this adventure with familiars eager to help the heroes so they could go meet their new masters and have adventures of their own. It was easy to use this adventure's delightful NPCs and evocative setting to create some whimsy and surprises for my players.

The maps are very good. Bright, interesting graphics that communicate some fun battlefields--up and down a tree, a room full of furnishings.

My players also got through this with only one brief combat. Pacing this adventure is a little challenging becuase a failure at the very the end of the scenario could prompt a lengthy battle: It is tough to keep an eye on the clock when you don't know whether your final scene will last 10 minutes or 40 minutes.

I will definitiely run this again. There's great re-playability with the wide variety of places and tasks the players can choose. Some things I will do when I run it again:

  1. Make a list of the sayings so I can track the ones my players still need to complete the quest
  2. Note places where players could see the sayings as another way to discover them--an embroidered pillow, a quote on a statue, etc.
  3. Note ways some challenges could be resolved with strength, athletics, etc. so my fighters get a chance to shine

I really enjoyed this module. I ran it for a group of players who are used to more combat-centric adventures, and they all had a great time, even though, through some smart choices and lucky dice rolls, they finished without a single combat encounter. The social encounters are very fun and whimsical, and they really liked the little puzzle with the local colloquial phrases. (And I had a lot of fun integrating those phrases into my NPC dialogues!) They also liked, despite how whimsical and lighthearted everything seemed, that there were spots with possibilities of things turning quite deadly if they weren't careful. How Feywild, one player said. :)
