Excellent generic system, usable for anything, plenty of options, great freedom for both GM and players. The only thing is that the character sheet is extremely sober, contrary to Cypher's one as example.

I have to admit, the Tri-Stat dX system is probably one of the most complete, modularized, and modifiable generic RPGs available, since GURPS. The rules aren't difficult to pick up and there is as much meat as you need to sate your hunger - be it for high fantasy, gritty cyberpunk, soaring heavy hitting superheroics, kingly subterfuge or virtually any manga or anime setting. At the low introductory cost of free, there is no reason for you not to own it. Try it. I couldn't find anything wrong with the sytem, except yhat it's too bad Guardians of Order is not around anymore.

I found it really fun to make characters. Bit of a challenge balancing all the factors. But then actually running it got rather involved and tedious.

I really like this system. I found it extremely intuitive without being crazy bogged down.

I've run games of high fantasy and hard SF with dX with no problems at all. The rules are very well thought out, and I think the scaled-die system is a very smart idea. It's rules-light in a good way; pretty much everything that should be there is, and any action or item no matter how earthshaking or tiny can be accomodated -- you'd just need to have a colorful imagination (of course), good storytelling skills and a clear idea of how heroic or mundane your game should be.

This is a really fun system to build characters in, though I can't speak to how it plays (our game of it crashed just after char gen).

i love object oriented gaming, and the tri stat dx is certainly no exception. the system is very simple, making it easy to balance point costs for different worlds and adding new abilities and defects.

in my opinion, tri stat appears to be a streamlined hero system style of gamiong, and my test runs with it have all been positive.

A good stater for player looking at tri-stat a core system for Free have fun with it.

Its one of the best cosmetic effect systems ever made. It equals Fuzion in versatility and adaptability, but for less detailed character description. It's tendency to lead characters to extremes (to frequently or almost never fail) can easily be corrected with positive or negative bonus to action rolls.

The table of skill costs per genre is a really good idea, and the secondary attribute list really covers nearly everything with little customization. It really saves a lot of time and inspiration to the roleplay itself. Its really a must see, read and play.

The Tri-Stat system raised to its' penultimate form. Flexible, detailed characters and fast, easy rules. A system that adapts to different power levels and genres without a whole lot of skull-sweat. I have found the one RPG I can't do without.
