This 50+ page tome of spells, magic items, and miscellaneous lore makes for an excellent addition to any 5th Edition D&D campaign. It is written with unusual clarity, creativeness, and humor, and the original art created for this book is wonderful.
Some highlights:
- In addition to a bunch of brand new spells that help fill gaps that remain in official content, this book introduces the concept of spell upgrades. Upgrades can be combined with different spells to produce countless interesting effects that make them significantly more interesting for tactical combat.
- The magic item collectibles are a punny delight. Your players will love tracking down these collectibles wherever you plant them in your campaign, especially if you dangle the set bonuses in front of them.
- The book is full of great humor, including wry commentary from Ipses and cleverly designed "useless" magic items.
This catalogue is especially well-suited as a supplement to the Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage adventure book. That adventure has a copious quantity of bland real estate that needs spicing, and Ezzat and Ipses both feature as minor characters. But really, I recommend it to anyone who wants to add a splash of humor and fun to their D&D campaign.
