Just ran this for an AL table. This was a fun conclusion to the Tier 1 encounters with Frostclaw! Most of the party had played parts of the Tier 1 adventures before so there was already motivation to fight Frostclaw. The exploration and social encounters to get the help of the Chwinga was fun for the party, but the payoff wasn't there.

The party enjoyed their encounter with Frostclaw, but was a bit bummed that this didn't end in Frostclaw's defeat. It also seems in the module as written that the Chwinga didn't do anything they are just there to "end" the encounter but the party is on their own. It would have been nice to have the Chwinga take away some of Frostclaw's Legendary resitances, or maybe Frostclaw default has more health or + to hit and the Chwinga take that away if you recruit them or something... As is I just don't know what the point of recruiting them was.

I also don't like the Robe of useful items table including GP patches when there are already gold limits in the S10 rules. If the players are going to get gold for playing the adventures what is the point of giving them more gold they can't use?

Brillliantly put together, this module was not only fun to run but also taught me a lot about how to present information. IT WAS SO EASY TO PROCESS, WHY CAN'T OFFICIAL MODULES BE THIS CLEAR TO RUN!

It's an auto-include in your Waterdeep campaign, these tables will help bring the city to life as your table explores it.

Great mix of social encounters, combat, and investigation! These first 3 modules really flesh out the Dock Wards and the conflicts happening around Neverember's Enigma in the city.

Good dungeon crawl, and the characters of Suri and Perdita have had lasting impacts on our Dragon Heist campaign! I wish the encounter with the Baron was more fleshed out in characterizing him.

I thought this was a fun module, the nature of the interchangable setup was interesting even though it made the presentation of information in the module confusing. Instead of doing the normal intro with the party creating these details I took bits and pieces of the module and used them to make a cohesive story that tied into our Dragon Heist hardcover's BBEG better.

A fun adventure that works great in its trilogy and adds some fun roleplaying and exploration of Waterdeep! I easily recommend adding this into Chapter 2 of a Dragon Heist Hardcover to build on the crazyness going on in the city while the different factions are looking for Neverember's Enigma!

DDAL10-03 Divining Evil

This was a disappointing module to run. It feels conflicted in the core design. This adventure builds a lot on top of DDAl10-01 and DDAL10-02 in terms of the Goliaths you interact with, (Rikuur the goat herder showing up in DDAl10-02, the politics of Wyrmdoom Crag, and the murderer). But if players played those adventures then the murder mystery is SUPER trivial. My players took a look at the crime scene and said **** did it right away, and that it was probably related to the Chardalyn. It felt like the module wanted to set up this red herring, but the evidence for the killer was so strong and in your face, especially if you played the previous adventures that there wasn't any mystery to this murder mystery. And if the players at the table aren't familiar with the previous adventure, then the hooks regarding Old Goat, Souljoined, and Windsinger along with Frostclaw don't entice their involvement in the module.

Going to the cave built up a lot of excitement for the party though, they were to here to defeat Frostclaw, and maybe meet Feral-Tongue! But then neither one showed up... The party was so convinced that they were here to ambush Frostclaw before she came back to the cave (because the module kept teasing Frostclaw's appearance in the journey up to the cave) that I had to take a minute to explain to them out of character that is not how the module goes. If this wasn't adventurer's league I would have just had Frostclaw appear to give them the payoff they were looking for, but they were instead very disappointed by the chase sequence.

The chase sequence that didn't happen, a clever use of some AOE spells by the party Warlock created a barrier for the Chardalyn Mephits that sat at the cave entrance and just blended them as they tried to cross it. This gave the party enough of a head start that the chase sequence was wrapped up quickly without tension, and then the party fought a random monster outside of Wyrmdoom Crag. They were unsatisfied, I was unsatisfied, and I had to convince them that "You definitely fight Frostclaw in the next adventure, I promise" to keep going.

On top of all that one of the rewards is just some thematic reskinning of armor and weapons, but the module doesn't say how the armor was modied by Goliaths, it just points to a table that doesn't have an example that is relevant. So that is very unsatisfying as well. Weakest part of the seasonso far.

DDAL10-02 Gnashing Teeth

As part of the larger storyline this was a fun way to introduce Wyrmdoom Crag and the Goliaths earlier. I liked sending my table over to meet the Goliaths in Tier 1 so they can have adventures in the future in Tier 2.

However by and large the module felt like a lot of filler. The goat herding and catching was fun, and the module kept teasing Frost Claw, I wish she had made a more impactful appearance. Even if it's just Frostclaw declaring war and sicking the wolves on the party or something to cover her retreat it felt unsatisfying to my players to keep having her teased and not show up. This is especially true now that we have played DDAL10-03, the party has gotten a bit burned out on not interacting with Frostclaw after their wonderful time with her in DDAL10-01.

That said, I did like the build up and reveal for Feral Tongue, I'm hoping that has more impact in future modules, and the river fight and interactions between Old Goat and the Windsinger were fun.

DDAL10-01 The Frozen North

This was an awesome adventure! I ran this for a group after doing DDAL10-00 and the difference between the two was great fun. Kind of like how Rime of the Frostmaiden offers two starting quests, 1 light hearted adventure chasing Chwingas and 1 creepier murder mystery. DDal10-01 is a much creepier story than DDAL10-00 and being stalked by Frostclaw with the threat of PC death along with the NPCs along with the party was a great teaser for future encounters with the Snowy Owbear.

2 things I would have preferred:

  1. Final encounter with Frostclaw, I would have preferred this scenario set up as a fighting retreat, if she's not going to die at the end of the module, have the win condition be escaping from a much stronger Frostclaw instead of burning her down and then having her conveniently escape.
  2. In terms of layout of the mini-module sections, certain information would have been helpful in the section ahead. I was a bit confused as DM about certain parts, like the door puzzle. I would have liked that mentioned at the end of the mini-module before being introduced in the next, so that I could have described the room more accurately with less prep.

DDAL10-00 Ice Road Trackers

This was a fun adventure. The first time I ran a DDAL module as a Dungeon Master in adventurer's league. The character's included in Mother Tusk's family are fun animal pals and this does tease a good bit of stuff that will be built on in the Hard Cover Rime of the Frost Maiden as well as the rest of the DDAl10 season.

My only minor complaint is that things feel a little disjointed in terms of motivations and physical area. I was trying to explain to the party where Mother Tusk's lair was that they were venturing out from to places like Dougan's Hole etc and it was a little tough to get the geography right with the travel times listed in the module.
