I absolutely love this sourcebook! I was introduced to the setting as a player and had an absolute blast unraveling the mysteries of the "Ring of Fire" sample scenario. After reading through the Keeper-only sections of the book I can't wait to run my own game.

The near future/space setting adds a whole host of new environmental and technological dangers that really amp up the tension and compliment the traditional mythos perfectly. Being able to isolate the investigators in a spaceship, or on a distant moon, is a great way to have everyone terrified before they even get to the Cthulu/cosmic horror elements of the game. Plus, once those things arrive there's nowhere to run except the cold, unforgiving vaccuum of space! The mechanic for radiation sickness is a personal favorite as well. The rapid deterioration of a charcter's body and mind after exposure creates a visceral sense of revulsion and terror.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Null is it provides all the tools to make the hard sci-fi elements feel authentic without getting bogged down in the minutae that can sometimes plague hard sci-fi. No need for a degree in astrophysics to be a great Keeper with this sourcebook! The mechanics simplify the technical aspects of the setting enough to make it accessible to everyone, while also providing enough substance to satisfy the science nerd (or nerds) in your group.

My favorite COC setting by a wide margin. Can't wait for more scenarios!

JP has come up with a thrilling setting that effortlessly blends lovecraftian horror with hard sci-fi. The factions are a standout: what better way to accuntuate cosmic horror than with a corrupt mechantile bureaucracy? I also love the mechanics for radiation sickness and space travel. It's a great way to inject some further, more mundane paranoia. I greatly enjoyed testing out the included scenario. It's a great introduction to how the mythos plays into this setting, as well as giving players a challenge to figure out the mystery and stay alive long enough to get home. JP does a great job giving the keeper enough information to easily run scenario without railroading players and still remaining flexible. I had an absolute blast trying this out and am looking forward to playing around in this world further.

Null isn't the first to propose "Cthulhu in Space!", but I have to say it is the one that has actually got me thinking about running a near future game. Creator JP Stephens has built a future that is general enough that any Keeper can drop in whatever they would like, and specific enough that bits of lore can be dropped casually to give the solar system a feeling of existence beyond what the investigators are currently experiencing. As I read through the different write ups of the locations and factions, my brain kept burning with ideas for scenarios that would benefit from the unique set pieces or inter/intra faction drama.

Presenting the material for use with the Pulp variant of CoC is fantastic, and really gives the game and "heroes" a unique flavor. It is well suited for one-shot play, but I feel it will shine in a longer form campaign. The product comes with a sample scenario "Ring of Fire", which does a nice job of introducing the players to the ideas at play in Null. I like the scenario as a one-shot, but feel it would fit better nearer the end of a longer campaign, as it drops some very major Mythos into the heroes' laps. Creator JP Stephens plans to support his setting with more scenarios, but in the meantime, I'm going to get to writing, or even shoehorning in some existing scenarios (Stygian Fox's "Salo's Glory" and "Time After Time" from Strange Aeons II come to mind) and ideas from the Icarus micro setting.

Great stuff! Would play, would run!

I helped playtest the setting and adventure included here, and we had a ton of fun. The setting is a great mix of future space sci-fi and the mythos, which allowed us to have some really awe-inspiring, surprising moments in game. A great sourcebook for entertaining games, even if you're not the biggest Cthulhu fan. I especially like building characters using the different backgrounds, archetypes, and factions. Have your cosmic horror in the cosmos!

A great NEW setting for Call of Cthulhu! And BONUS Scenario.

NULL really brings the future of Cthulhu and the Great Ones to life. Pitting factions of dark cultists against one another in a vast space setting. The book gives you details on several factions, locations, equipment, vehicles and technology.

All of the information is given in a format that is concise and easy to read. An introductory scenario in which investigators must discover the secrets of an ancient eldritch gate and what lies beyond.

Highly Recommended.
