It's a duet game where one player controls a PC and several NPC companions. This play mode has enough exclusive content to feel meaningfully different from the one in the core book. This kind of play experience doesn't usually come up outside of the miniatures wargame / boardgame space. It's a neat idea.

(ok there are RPGs like that but they generally don't have much tactical combat)
