Definitely a unique design, and leads to really fun and interesting play that's less about whether or not you can do something and more about how willing you are to use your power and face the consequences. Focusing on the player's attention and interest keeps the story engaging for everyone, and the combination of quests and a varied arsenal of miraculous powers creates lots of room for player creativity and dynamic situations.
