Pulled this out for a one-shot during a party and it went AMAZINGLY. This adventure is great to have a low stakes, fun, and quirky session.
We ended up skipping the final combat, as everyone was just so tried after all the other shennanigans already took up 3 hours.
As a one-shot though, I think it's perfectly fine to leave it as a cinematic cliff hanger as the enemies and the party jump into action.
I do think the first game could get draggy with the lack of clues, and my players could tell when I was improvising a statue versus reading off the table of hints. All the creative juices are gone by the 10th statue you need to make up on the spot as I didn't have a random item table on hand. Two to three random table matrixes included in the adventure would have been helpful in generating a bunch of statues on the spot.
All in all, it was a fun time. I'd describe it as a "fun-house" adventure.
