A Town Called Mud: The Haunted Mine

I keep telling myself that I'm not a fan of Westerns but then I'll get really excited by anything to do with Deadwood or the Dark Tower. And now this! I sunk into reading this adventure like a novella. The NPC characters are strong and the details of their backstory and Mudd itself as a location are the kind that you usually only get from a beloved homebrew campaign. Hooks abound and you could pick and choose from this to run a one-shot adventure, a short run, or springboard a whole "weird west" long running campaign. There's a wealth of tactical play advice on offer as well as on-theme random encounters and easy ways to get started adding firearms to your game (expanded on greatly by this author in Satchel's Bag of Tricks). If you, like me, have developed a taste for frontier style adventure mixed with a strong dash of fantasy you won't regret picking this up!

This is so, so awesome. A great concept incredibly well executed. I'm using this in my main campaign and it's opened up great backstory and roleplay opportunities as well as giving my barbarian player a chance to customise his great axe. All of which has brought an extra dimension of fun and engagement to a long campaign.

The detail, the history, the art - this is a fantastic supplement. If you, like me, were tempted by the juicy intrigue of the Zhentarim presence on the Sword Coast during or after runnind Dragon of Icespire Peak or Lost Mine of Phandelver, I heartily recommned this as an indispensible companion to your ongoing adventures!

If you need a city level map or are struggling for roleplay encounter starters (which could turn into combat with further filling out on your part), then this will be helpful to you.
