LEGION

"She could see them now. A jumble of disparate silhouettes at the edge of the campfire. Through the chittering throng a magisterial figure approached. This broo was considerably larger than any she has seen before. Naked save for a loincloth of indeterminate origin it strode into the firelight. Huge white horns with innumerable carved runes rose from its muscled skull. Pointing an evil, curved blade at Vasana it bellowed 'I am Immortal White Horn, son of Thed and Wakboth’s fist. We have come for you Lightbringer and we are LEGION!'"

…..this is not The Big Book of Gloranthan Bedtime Stories, but Gibson's Legion is as responsible as a work of horror or dark fantasy fiction could be.
Best $9 you will spend this week.
Andrew Logan Montgomery

"The book is lavishly illustrated, with five full-page pictures and more original artwork throughout the Rune-levels and Diseases. The presentation is tasteful: there in no gross "rapey" content, no mention of breeding practices...."
Nick Brooke - Jonstown Compendium Scenarios & Sourcebooks

…a big old list of bad ass Broo who will ruin your characters day but not your players. Loads of great hooks and some really, really stand out bad guys the players will love to hate. Well done!
Dom Twist – Beer with Teeth

…recommended. A very useful publication for any GM who might want a horrible Chaos foe or two, varying from dangerous foes that challenge Rune Lords to inexperienced broo that are appropriate challenges for a single beginning PC, with all the work of fully detailed statistics, retaining all the creative variance you’d expect from Glorantha’s nastiest Chaos race.
David Cake

“…a combination of ‘Runemasters’ and ‘Foes’, with some new and interesting full colour art.
I think this is a great supplement of its type.”
Andrew Taylor

PLEASE NOTE:
Broo are BAD NEWS!
As such material in this book deals with mature themes.
GMs are advised to adjust their presentation of this subject matter in accordance with their own and their group’s comfort levels.
Within the following pages we examine a number of new diseases.
At the time of publishing we are experiencing a real-world global pandemic.
Some GMs may need to appraise the impact these subjects may have on their players.

Recently purchased both Legion and Vol 1 of Sandheart. Legion looks great and is packed with interesting Broo to add to your gangs at all levels. RQ players will however be relieved that none of Broo in Legion come near Mr Stafford ultimate bad news Broo Fil-Ith from Snake Pipe Hollow. One of the many factors which makes Snake Pipe Hollow such a killer is fact that so much of the usual bog standard leather armour has been upgraded by that blasted Ogre smith. Hardly any of that in Legion but a worrying number of Crossbows!? I thought these were high tec Dwarf weapons so how come so many are showing up in Broo hands/paws/talons?????? Baffled at first but crossed my mind that if you have a party playing as the local "police" as in Sandhart and as per my view of Sandhart you think the local smugglers are a bit harmless. The way to make it look more like a matter of real concern to the Hero's is to have your smugglers running drugs, drink and crossbows to the Broo (in exchange for gold and slaves?)...See more

oh thanks for the comments Stuart..... though now I want to pit some of the 'better' broo in LEGION against the legendary Fil-ith! I'll let you know how he fairs....!
Yes I did think about the prevalence of crossbows and landed in the same camp as you. Stolen/salvages/scavenged items. I'm hoping that most of those broo have a high enough INT to work out the mechanism.
Thanks for taking the time to send over the feedback and THANK YOU for your purchase!

Normal RQ campaigns seem to involve the players either taking part of Law v Chaos. Or sometimes some very chaotic seeming lightbringers fighting a rather lawfull seeming Lunar Empire because they accept Chaos as part of time. However if a GM wanted to run a bit of Chaos v Chaos as a twist (classic Western style Hero's in middle of two groups of bad guys trying to survive and play one off against the other). Think being caught in a raid by a "Legion" Broo into Snake Pipe Hollow could be interesting.

Was reading about a Scots Noble (head of the House of Douglas) who was captured in battle of Halidon Hill by Henry Percy (Hotspur). Joined the Parcy revolt against Henry IV only to be defeated and captured again at the battle of Shrewsbury in 1405. Now one of the things I have always liked about RQ is the ransom system which normally involves payment in Lunars. But nothing stops payment in service......so if party member or key friend or ally is captured by a Broo from "Legion"...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
