Covered Bridge Paper Model
Publisher: Dave Graffam Models
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/08/2012 21:57:33

Another excellent model kit from Dave Graffam! As with all of his other offerings, this bridge kit includes many different customization options though the Layers tool, and his use of color and shading give his models an incredible depth and life. To top it all off, his models are always reasonably priced, and this one is no exception.

Halloween Set
Publisher: Arion Games
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/08/2012 21:39:10

Great-looking paper minis with a Halloween/horror theme. As with all Arion miniatures that I have seen, these come in two styles - two-sided flat minis and the triangular "tri-foot" minis that are a bit more stable and less likely to fall over. All minis have full color images, and all sides of each mini is detailed.

Along the Twisting Way: The Faerie Ring Prelude
Publisher: Zombie Sky Press
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/08/2012 21:33:35

Beautifully written and illustrated, this primer on the fey and their kind is filled with lore and brimming with story ideas. The cover says Pathfinder, but there is practically zero system-specific material here - anyone could use it to enrich the lore of faerykind in the RPG of their preference.

A clever method of creating first-level multiclassed characters (with two apprentice levels or "half levels") for Pathfinder. This supplement is clearly written and great for bringing some variety to your campaign.

A great pick-up adventure for a night when you don't have anything prepared, or as a side trek for the party on the road, this is a great module for C&C or any old-school fantasy RPG. It's quick to read and prepare, and even includes a new monster.

The Flying Serpent, or Strange News Out Of Essex
Publisher: Magnum Opus Press
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/08/2012 21:09:07

An excellent prop for a horror or urban fantasy RPG, this is a 12 page document on the appearance of a flying serpent. The pages are yellowed and creased with age, and the entire document looks very authentic. I'd love to see more ready-made props like this one.

Sutra Magic (PFRPG)
Publisher: Rite Publishing
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/08/2012 15:40:03

An alternate magic system for Pathfinder games with an Eastern influence, Sutra Magic involves prayers written on paper and used for protection against infernal creatures.

This book contains a new feat (Sutra Caster) that is available to any class (but spellcasting classes gain a feat bonus), and 17 sutras. As with all other products I have seen from Rite Publishing, the layout and art are excellent, and the writing clear and concise. This is a great product for anyone interested in bringing some Eastern flavor to their campaign.

Savage Suzerain Adventure Deck
Publisher: Savage Mojo
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]

A beautiful set of full-color cards that award the player with benefits such as bonus damage, divine blessing, bonus treasure, automatic successes on Trait tests, and more. The art is excellent and the cards are fun, but I found the text on the bottom of each card a little difficult to read - a black background or different color scheme could probably correct it.

The Gamers’ Guide to Tabletop Role-playing Genres
Publisher: Roleplayers Chronicle
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/08/2012 11:13:37

A great resource that outlines the various genres of tabletop RPGs, with examples of games in each genre. While this may seem to be of little use to a veteran gamer, it could be an excellent tool for educating new players about the hobby, and possibly even for brainstorming new setting ideas, or discussing with your players what type of RPG they would like to play.

The writing is clear and concise, and there are numerous examples in each category.

Legendary II: Legendary Weapons [PFRPG]
Publisher: Purple Duck Games
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/08/2012 10:53:11

A nice collection of 14 legendary weapons for Pathfinder, each with a few paragraphs of history and lore. Includes a variant Jealousy rule for weapons that don't care much for their wielder using other weapons for combat. The layout is somewhat plain, but the content is very good, and the artwork ranges from good to excellent.

A set of new conditions for 4E, to add a bit of variety to combat. There are 17 in all, plus rules for Acute Conditions. This is pretty plain and straightforward, with no fluff, and the price is reasonable. Pick it up if you want to add some spice to your game.

Monster Menagerie: Rise of the Goblinoids
Publisher: Rogue Genius Games
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/07/2012 15:22:57

This set includes eight new goblinoid races for the Pathfinder RPG that could be used in a "goblin uprising" campaign, or just to make encounters with goblins a bit more interesting.

Included are the Atahsaia (a giant hobgoblin race that occasionally organize goblin armies), Erlking (swamp-dwelling descendants), Majnun (former Efreet slaves), Ophidiyarr (horrible goblin-snake offspring from a forgotten god), Ponaturi (semiaquatic goblins from volcanic regions), Puck (skittish goblins that can sometimes be befriended), Tree Grim (tree-dwelling goblins) and Vinayaka (winged goblins that may be part demon).

All creatures include excellent illustrations and appear on a single page for ease printing and access.

5 Magic Items: Axes
Publisher: Misfit Studios
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/07/2012 14:38:20

A collection of magic axes for fantasy games using the Savage Worlds system. This collection is unique in that it includes Knowledge tables for each weapon that the player or GM can roll on to see of the character knows (or can figure out) the magical properties of the weapon. Done in secret by the GM, this can be a great way to make the items more mysterious.

As with all of these supplements by Misfit Studios, this one includes excellent fantasy art.

Magical Haul One
Publisher: Avalon Classic
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/06/2012 22:46:27

A pretty good collection of 9 magic items of variable quality and utility. Some items are somewhat vague in their descriptions, like the Boots of Fate, which lead the wearer to adventure (But -which- adventure? The nearest one? Is there a range limitation?). Likewise, the Two Knot Snake Ring has as one of its powers the ability to change into a small viper - but no benefit for this use is listed (Is the viper friendly to the user, and will follow his orders?)

Of course, any good GM can fill in these details as they wish, and as a short list of magic items that could serve as springboards for adventures, this collection is likely worth the price.
