This is a great product. The city encounters are better designed than the others, however, with more intriguing story kernels. That said, it would be worth picking up even if the city encounters were the entirety of the product. For DMs running Theros, this is a must-buy.

Great product, very complete and full of great ideas for such a good price! Will definitely spice up sessions that need a little pick-me-up or more personality. It's also easy to see how to adapt these encounters to any setting, which makes this product very reusable!

Truly excellent random encounters, perfectly suited to Theros but adaptable to many different high fantasy settings.

This is a seriously stellar product. So many encounters for almost every type of encounter (encounters in the Underworld would've been a really nice section to have), with interesting NPCs, interesting ideas, and some that are almost fully-fleshed out adventures (I ran the Deus Ex Machina encounter and it was very easy to turn it into a full small adventure). Nor is this product something that can be used only in Theros: many encounters in it can be very easily adapted to any fantasy game (doesn't have to be a mythic Classic setting either).

A fantastic companion for running Theros games!

I initally was weary of buying what seemed like a mashup of encounter without a preview, but thankfully Encounters in Theros has alot of great content throughout.

Encounters range from small, simple encounters among NPCs, objects or locations, to grander lore-rich undertakings across the environments of Theros.

My only gripe would be the pdf lacks bookmarked sections, which for ease of use are extemely handy and would have been simple to implement.

I do also wish Underworld encounters would have made it in to the product as well since that plays as large a roll in adventuring locations as any other.

A very nice addition to the source book!

This book is full of encounters, both large and small, with just enough information to work them into your own campaign without adding too much unnecessary detail.

It covers City, Wilderness, Mountain and Sea locations for encounters, with appendices for a Player Handout and Creature Stats, as needed. It also introduces many potential NPCs, leaving the door open for a quickly added in encounter to become much more!

The artwork is fantastic, and truly adds the right amount of evocative imagery to fire your imagination. The layout follows the 5e format, so you’ll feel right at home in the familiar format of information display.

My chief complaint about this work is that, according to the PDF, it’s been laid out in Adobe InDesign, yet there are no PDF Bookmarks, Table of Contents nor Index. Even the roll tables at the beginning of each area of encounters doesn’t contain any links to those encounters. All features of the program that are rather easy to add to a layout. That makes it rather unwieldy to quickly get to where you want.

Other than that little nit-pick this is truly a great addition to the Theros source book and one I’m sure I’ll be using throughout my campaign!
