Being in my early 50's and have decades of gaming experience with various systems I thought I'd give Runequest another go. First time was in the 80's but I was too young, broke and teenager to really grasp what Glorantha was so I skimmed the books, run few half-hearted games and moved on. But I always had a nagging feeling that I was missing something. So last year I bought one book, loved it and gradually I got all the Chaosium books. But being in my 50's I also realize that there's finite number of campaigns I have time to run so I have a mindmap for at least the next decade for potential campaigns. But now I realized I just got to run something in Glorantha and I bought this one based on the review. And oh man is it good. It's that kind of book that you feel 5 stars isn't enough. It feels real and grounded and at the same time exciting, new and larger than life. The writing's top notch and you can really feel the love and experience the writer has for the world. Instead of skirting around the big, big stuff that's happening in the setting the campaign heads straight into the, world shaking, weird and wonderful but in a really smart way. It's definitely gonna be next thing I'm going to run and I'm really excited.
