This is a great supplement for murder mystery writers. I wish there were more like it.

This game needs more love!!!
So far so good. I'm enjoying this game greatly. Easy to learn and fun to play! After solo adventuring, I'm looking forward to playing with 2 players when my son visits.
I, too, would love to see some expansions! (hint hint!!!)

Seriously the best group of random tables I've ever come across. I've spent hours on several occasions just randomly rolling and coming up with some great names, titles, etc. So good in fact, I ordered the print version. Desperately awaiting the second volume to come out.

This is a great collection of holiday stories. Some sci-fi, mystery, romance, and pulp, but all related to Christmas. The best (my favorite at least) is "Christmas After the End of the World". Such a beautiful and touching story! I look forward to more holiday stories from the author.

This is a great series of short stories set in Hallowind Cove, Harbour of the Weird. Fun, eccentric characters. In fact, the town itself, is the main character. I hope to see more stories about this strange little town. It's like Twilight Zone meets Garrison Keillor.

So far I've read about 15 of Buhlert's stories, and by far this is one of my favorites. And that's saying something, considering I've enjoyed all of the ones I've read. A perfect mix of Post-apocalyptic goodness and a Christmas story.

I've been reading the series in order and this is my favorite to date. I love the space opera genre and this one adds a bit of romance to it and makes it even better. A very tense story, you never know what might happen next. Pietro seems to be a fun character to write. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
CAUTION: SPOILERS BELOW!
One issue I found was the story repeatedly mentions a spy seen at the Plasma Cafe (detailed in the previous story, "Collision Course"). In this story, however, Anjali states the spy at the Plasma Cafe didn't recognize them, when it is clear in the previous story that the spy, Fritz, recognized Mikhail right away, because they worked together. The only explanation I see is that this was written before "Collision Course", and was not updated to take Fritz into account.

I love the new organization of the scenarios. This layout is helpful. I realized that the originals did not have any of the flavor text/background information in the actual pdf's. I find the extra background helps give the game more depth. And it's nice to have the scenarios collected together in one file. Even the basic rules are included. Heading to Amazon now to order the print version!

This is a tough solo dungeon crawl, but it is a lot of fun. I ordered the collection of scenarios as well as the print version of this product on Amazon. The game system is simple to learn. It also has a lot of supplements (4 magic books, several scenarios, and two other supplements - a sourcebook for worlds outside the dungeons and one for creating epic characters - all of which are PWYW). Great for when you have no one to play, but it can also be used with a GM.

Thanks for the review, John. Yes! Lots of free supplements and many more in the project lineup. |

This is a great little system which is both simple to learn and play, yet there's still enough there to give it some realism. I especially like the Moment of Chance rule as well as the optional use of cards instead of dice. The rules are clearly explained and the book is well organized. Most of all I like that the game is simple enough that it won't get in the way of the roleplaying.
I'd like to see more of these with different genres and settings, perhaps some scenarios too. I see there haven't been any new releases for this system since 2016. V2 only had one - Radio Mystery in 2018. So I'm not getting my hopes up.

John! Thank you so much for playing the game! It was my original game design I did years ago way before I was designing full time! Perhaps because of your interest, I'll go ahead and make a couple more of these. V2 only had one because I was dissatisfied with the end result of the updated system. I also created the Chapbook system (different than my new and most popular Micro Chapbook system) which people have liked but doesn't have the excitement of the card drawing drama of the original. I really appreciate you playing the game and leaving feedback! |

Excellent teaching aid for both new GM's and players, especially geared towards teaching children new to RPG's. Played this solo with my 7 yo son and he absolutely loved it. Had to decrease the number of monsters in each encounter, but it went well. And we both loved the artwork. We're both looking forward to the followup adventure.

I received the Kindle version (the Trilogy with the first 3 books combined) for my birthday and have read the first two volumes. I got the pdf versions here while they were on sale. This version (the PDF) is better in that it has the illustrations and footnotes at the bottom of each page. The Kindle version has footnotes at the back of all three books with no hyperlinks to/from the footnotes, which makes for difficult navigation. Both versions (Kindle and PDF) could benefit from an active table of contents and hyperlinks to/from footnotes. Overall the author shows excellent research into the history of D&D, with documented citations. There are a few typos throughout but not to the extent that it is unreadable. In fact, while very detailed, it reads quite fluidly. Also I found the author to be quite objective about the various people and events involved.
