Against the Cult of the Crimson Hand

Very inexpensive and a nice read. I love the blood trick/trap to pass through more safely. Clever but solvable which is a bonus for players. Nicely put together maps and a cogent dungeon that appears very useable. I had a cult that were invading a local abandoned mine and capturing and converting villagers. I'm planning now to convert them into crimson hand acolytes and have this as their local base. I'll work more of the blood motif into their actions and gear.

I am becoming a big fan Of Wally's material and especially his puzzles. I had more trouble with a lot of these puzzles a few here I would only run for a much younger audience than I normally run , you know 40 year olds , rather than 60 year olds. Still there feels like more in this version that I could only run for the grand nieces and nephews. Still they would be fun and that's a great age group to throw puzzles at. I like well, well, well ( well ) and have set up a version in my world. I really enjoy the pecan pie puzzle and again have modified it for my city adventure. Slashing Pumpkins I expanded into a halloween mini-adventure complete with a pumpkin carving Frankenstein and cursed town. I live next door to Kentville "The Home of the Pumpkin People" and I'm taking pictures this Halloween to use as handouts. This one was a huge idea mine for me and I think will be a load of fun. I really Like the Sand Crypt and I think I can rework a few others like the maze of the elements, fancy feast, equal scales, the kraken puzzle, the clock tower, save the queen, heart in the chest. Nice artwork in this book and stat blocks for the monsters.
Just a lot of great ideas in his books. He has gleaned and collected a lot of puzzles, many that I have found useful and fun. The magic items and 100 random rooms at the end are very fun and I think there is use to be gotten out of them. Well worth the pdf price.

I really have enjoyed reading this anthology. I've already plucked out the temple of the god of thieves and children and plunked it into my regional capital as a potential Thief initiation site. I already had a deserted bug temple of Coleoptra underneath my regional capital with some men made of bugs like from Frank Herbert's "The Green Brain". I already had a couple of levels of bug servants, but now I can add the Skitterlord as an enhanced big bad. I really enjoyed the Wizard's laboratory puzzle dungeon which also fits nicely in my high magic setting. I haven't immediately thought of a spot to incorporate the Singing Stones in my world, but the quirkiness and the opportunity to try to incorporate a misunderstood, grandmotherly and well meaning medusa into my game is too fun to miss. The Lost City and the Cynaedecians are in my world so any opportunity to incorporate NPC's wearing bird masks and pretending to be birds is so appreciated. I haven't had time to give the fourth module/one shot a good look yet, Looks like there are some meat eating 6' tall Dire Chickens though. That has to be good. Have not looked at the bonus material yet. I got the pdf for $12. Certainly worth that. Oh and there is an imprisoned elven warrior always spouting aphorisms. "It's always darkest before the dawn." "When the going gets tough the tough get going. " " Its not the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog." My players are going to kill this guy, maybe before they rescue him. " What's the matter maggot? You want to live forever." Im sorry I love this character. Sorry though it is incorrigible or incorrigibly. I am going to have to start following Brad Kerr cause this stuff is great.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Lot of great ideas here. I especially liked Door of the Pacifist, Temple of the Rat god, The Goldfish and Forest maze, Scare Crows, Echo Chamber and Incense Deities. also liked Magicians sword box for my moon temple though I'd probably reskin it. Few Additional magic items and some fun room ideas as well. Great Idea Mine and well worth the PDF cost.

The Reptile House

Just bought this one. Designed for the Shadow Dark system and for 4-6 third level characters. The lead in is a little rail roady but easy to work around. I like the Parliament of Owls and their search for a group of heroes to retrieve something from the Reptile House. I'm playing an old school D&D game but this seems pretty easy to incorporate. There are several intriguing magic items. The crypt has it's own history which is a fun layer to have in any adventure. I will change it a bit to incorporate in my campaign. The backstory gives the things you find in the crypt a little more meaning and perhaps a little historical value.
Great dungeon to have in any hex crawl through a Swampy area.
The MacGuffin can also be modified to fit your campaign.

Thanks for the great review, Scott! Im currently at work on the follow up to THE REPTILE HOUSE. The new one starts with a hex crawl so it'll be far less rail roady and have a ton of locations to discover!
