Harlequin 1.3.5: Martial Caster Class
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by B5 H. !. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/06/2019 04:37:25

The Harlequin has beautiful art & design mixed with well-made class features. The entire class boasts complete originality and unique features and spells. This is a 5-star product.

Lydia Offee has done it again, delivering another incredible document that will leave you wanting to beg your DM for a TPK so you can create a new character.

The harlequin has a ton of new cantrip options, that pair nicely with its unique style of spellcasting that utilises the combination of cantrips to create new and unique effects.

All of the subclasses bring a completely different feel to the class, and each offers a different play experience with each playthrough of the harlequin.

10/10, definitely one of the best docs to have come out in 2019.

Warlock lovers rejoice, your prayers to the dark corners of the multiverse have been answered! This document is incredible.

It works perfectly as a companion to the official WotC documents with alternate features, and adds to them with great additional lore and roll tables. Not only that, but the document brings in completely new patrons for your warlock to make pacts with, and new invocations for your warlock to gain from said patrons.

This document is a must have for any dungeon master or player, and if I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

{OAP} The Elementalist Class
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Braydon F. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 08/01/2018 08:30:50

Outlandish Adventure Productions knocked this one out of the park.

My player picked up the Elementalist at 10th level, after his previous character was arrested (a story for another time). He was super enthusiastic about playing as an elemental magic wielding character, so we looked around at a bunch of different options, but after the success I had playing as the {OAP} Sculptor, I recommended the {OAP} Elementalist because I trust that Ross and the team always publish top quality content.

I've never seen one of my players more excited to play as a class before, and with good reason. The Elementalist is an incredibly well done class, with a ton of interesting features to make your character feel one of a kind. My initial thought of an elemental harnessing character was that it would be very one dimensional and boring, but those thoughts were immediately shattered after reading through the document. The class is very versatile, and offers much more than the traditional "four elements" type approach to an elemental based class. Each subclass has a number of different subclasses again within it, which offers great customisation and makes no two Elementalists the same, even if they manipulate the same element.

Here is a quick quote from my player: "I like what he did with like the sub elements, like metal, lava, and lightning. It's genius. Plus the spell list is great, I love those new Investiture spells he came up with. The way it's designed (the class) really shows that your character is a master of their chosen element."

This class is a huge win, and is another product from OAP that deserves 6/5 stars.

I should also mention, that working with my player to incorporate this class into my homebrew world has been a blast. We have decided he comes from an island populated by a sect of xenophobic dragonborn who worship a primordial. The island's plant-life is what can only be described as above ground coral, and features numerous floating air motes held aloft by powerful elemental magic. Divine magic is outlawed, and arcane magic is frowned upon, but the magic practiced by the Elementalist's is viewed as the most pure form of magic; "true divine magic". Thus, elementalist's serve the island as its priests, defenders, shamans, and leaders.

The capital city of the island is a GIANT inverted metal pyramid some miles across (that once was airborne thanks to elemental magic). This pyrimid (known as Mejeir) has been plunged deep into the earth, so only the top 30 feet of the pyrimid remains above ground. The rival clans of the island are at odds with one another, and the current Emperor believes they are on the verge of civil war. So he has recruited a number of young Elementalist warriors (my player), to go out in the world and find the right elemental air rituals needed to raise Mejeir to the skies once again, thus showing his might, and halting the potential civil war.

Working with my player to incorporate this class into my world has been a big highlight for both of us, and my player feels incredibly proud about his character's backstory. Thanks for the great class, Ross!

Commander 1.5: 5th Edition Class
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Braydon F. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/30/2018 21:49:58

This review is coming off the back of playing five one-shots with the Doctrine of the Slaver Commander, at levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 on the Homebrew Review podcast. Episodes should release in 6 weeks from today (31/07/18), if anyone is interested in seeing how the class plays.

This is an epic class. Lydia has done an excellent job creating a class that truly feels unique to anything else in the official WoTC books. The mechanics behind issuing commands is awesome, and I loved thinking tactically whilst playing my character. I love that the Commander has strategy as a built in aspect of the class, if you're not thinking of the most effective way to issue and use your commands, then you're not going to be performing as well as you could, but as soon as you start talking tactically with your friends and chaining the use of your commands with their abilities, that's when magic happens. This class is a ton of fun!

Each of the Doctrines (subclasses) takes a completely different path, and all of them offer an entired altered play experience. Right from 3rd level, when you gain your subclass, your character begins forming into the character that you want to become, there's no waiting around. You get the feel and features straight at level 3 to completely seperate you from other Commanders, and they keep on coming until level 20.

The class has received a number of updates since I bought it, and all of them went towards making an already amazing class, even better than it was. This is going to be an option for my player's in the future, if they need to make new characters.

If you buy this product, you won't regret it. 6/5 stars. Great job, Lydia!

Thank you so much for the kind words. The feedback you've given up to this point has been invaluable to the ongoing improvment and refinement of this class, to which I have to credit you for getting it to the point it's currently at. I seriously look forward to seeing the results in the Homebrew Review podcast, which I will surely be following. Again, thank you so much for everything you've done to help. ^-^

{WH} Awakened Undead! A character race with six subraces: Skeletons, Ghosts, Revenants, Ghouls, Mummies, and Necropolitans!
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Braydon F. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/29/2018 22:02:23

I just finished playing through some adventures on a podcast called "The Homebrew Review", where I was a guest. 5 episodes were recorded and they should be released roughly one month from today (Today: 30/04/2018).

I chose to play as the Awakened Undead (Skeleton), my main reasoning behind wanting to test this race out was for inclusion in my own personal home games. I was skeptical about the race at first glance, believing that a playable race with the Undead type would prove incredibly powerful due to it's immunity to different spells and effects.

HOW I WAS WRONG.

The race was very well balanced, the immunity to various effects was counterbalanced by the inability to be healed by the more common spells a party would be equipped with. Even with that being the case, my character only went unconcious once and that was at the VERY last moment of the final episode.

The races within are equipped with fun, and well thought-out abilities that bring a spark of fun to a race that may seem very macabre at first glance. My character used these abilities to incredible effect, and it added a ton of comedy to our already awesome game. Not to mention the incredible roleplay potential playing as an undead creature comes with, it didn't come up too much in our episodes but I can imagine that being a very large drive for story in any regular home game.

Walrock homebrew delivers another epic character option, 11/10.

{OAP} The Sculptor Class
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Braydon F. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/29/2018 18:08:33

This review is coming off of the back of 5 sessions played as the Sculptor class (Divine, Shield Sculpt), played through levels 4-20 on the Homebrew Review podcast. The episodes should be out in 4 weeks from today (today: 30/04/18).

Overall, I have zero major complaints about the class, and any flaws I found in play were very minor, and came from my choice of build for the character I was playing as. One minor piece of critique I may add, is that I'd like there to be another 1 or 2 ribbon features targetted towards roleplay placed between 9th to 15th level. I didn't get to test the character in roleplay as much as I did in combat, but that is the only thing I saw from a tertiary glance.

As for positive notes:

The class is incredibly well balanced. Regardless of the build you make with this class, you'll enjoy a steady progression through levels, and will find your fit within your party without outshining anyone, or being outshone. The class features all give you abilities that have a very distinct, and have an original feel to them only available to a Sculptor, and you'll find your character doing things that no other class can replicate.

At first glance, I thought the earlier levels may be a little slower, but upon playing as a Sculptor, it became abundantly apparent that I had a large number of options available to me to use on my turn. Due to the build I played, bonus actions became just as important as actions, and I found myself comboing together the subclass abilities for awesome effect. As I played on into the later levels, I only gained more versatility with my actions and bonus actions, and had tons of awesome options available to me.

The Sculptor is a class that I will be incorporating into my homebrew world, as it is well balanced, easy to understand for even the most novice of tabletop RPG players, and has awesome flavour that helps you create a character that is unlike anything you can make from official WOTC material.

Great job, Ross. If I could give 6 stars, I would.

Date Added: 07/05/2017 08:01:42

At first, I was a little skeptical. I was unsure whether the product would deliver enough quality content to really merit the price tag.

HOWEVER.... not only is this Bestiary worth it, it's a MUST HAVE for all DM's out there!

My mental cogs instantly began turning as I scrolled through the bestiary, thinking of where I could fit these monsters into my current campaign world. There is a huge variety of different monster types with creatures and critters of all sizes, perfect for any situation and the illustrations really assist in bringing the creatures of Monsters of the Orient to life within your imagination.

I am seriously excited about the prospect of having my players encounter an Adult or Ancient Dofuku in the future.
