Campaign Cartographer 3 Full Version
Publisher: ProFantasy Software

This is a program i have slobbered over for some time - they lowered the price significantly and i jumped at the chance to own it. I have not been dissappointed.

It is not something for computer beginners. while more intuitive than the previous versions, its still not the easiest, most user friendly program i've ever used. However, there are easier programs out there - but they will not come up to this program's level of complete cartographer's dream as this one.

I cannot stress enough when you are using this program - SAVE OFTEN! and USE LAYERS!! They provide the tools for you but if you don't use them, they're not going to be responsible for your crud-tacular maps. Do not forget to check the profantasy website for the free content!

Aberrant Rulebook

The PDF itself - good quality, nicely scanned, easy to use.

The book is a fun and easy read, interesting and well written for the most part.

My main issue with this is the playability of the game itself. If you have a good group, jump on this, its a fun game. But I have played with some people who are out to abuse the rules as much as possible to min/max their characters and this game can lend itself well to that if a strong storyteller does not grab the reins before they run off making daffy duck noises.

So let the Storyteller beware. Potentially a good game - but bring your strongest cluebat to hit people with to calm them down from trying to make a solo focused power character in a group game.

City State of the Invincible Overlord
Publisher: Judges Guild

I owned the original version of this put out by the judges guild ... sometime before 1980 i think. It was awful and wonderful, it made me cringe and laugh and occasionally say 'wow' with its cheesy yet amusing and sometimes astonishingly clever layout of plot and NPC writeups.

This new version is much more professional, the art is beautiful and its more complete feeling and much, much easier to read and work with. Its updated for the roleplayer of the 21st century - it should not fail to please anyone looking for an updated version of an old school game accessory.

I thought the art and text of the PDF is crisp and clean, the maps are wonderfully scanned for optimum presentation - the original map was huge and the print tiny - and I think this is a perfect way to present this information.

The only thing i might change is to make it a little more searchable but that would just be decorative frosting on this already yummy rpg cake.

Adventure! Tales of the Aeon Society Rulebook

I had a hard copy of this and wanted another copy - a computer copy was perfect since i could just print out a couple of relevant peices to make characters up or read to remind me of rules rather than lug the whole book.

I enjoy the game - its a little different though familiar to anyone who's played a White Wolf game. The pulp fiction feel really shows the people who created this game knew the genre and liked it - I know i've read more than one rule book where people didnt' seem to actually like the genre for which they wrote.

Above and beyond the game itself being fairly fun, the book is an enjoyable read and the PDF was very much exactly as the book i already have - only better because i can enlarge the print as needed for my elderly eyes. Good crisp graphics and excellent translation from print to PDF.
