I am in the process of running all of DDAL09 as a campaign, so will be reviewing each adventure as I run them. For context, I have run 11 adventures in this campaign already, a homebrew one where the party needs to get out of Elturel with as many civilians as possible as the city is being sucked into hell, and then Baldur's Gate: Fall of Elturel, also on DM's Guild for a different group of adventurers, finally I have run DDAL09-01 through DDAL09-10.

What I liked: This felt like a solid "filler" adventure for the season arc. There are a lot of good foleplay opportunities and character moments, and setting the first half of ghe adventuee in the emporium is a strong way to ground it in the familiar before branching oit in exploration. the mustery folllows fhe three clue rule well and the combat is pretty fun, if simple. Dai Chen is a fun character to interact with as well.

What I didn't like: The Su Zhen Kang statblock is a little anemic and could do with some buffing up.

Honestly that ks my only real complaint, overall a great adventure.

My players enjoyed most of the module. But the module does not take in account if they have acquired any war machines. (My group tried to run down Auntie.) The main story needs an encounter adjustment as a strong party of five will walk over every encounter. I gave the five headed Kang immunity to stun and resistance to fire. Also the Asmodeus temple map need to be scale at 20 feet per square. Using the standard 10 per square Huge Kang has trouble moving. The map needs to be relabeled also. You only have A1 and A2. This threw me for a moment during game play. Add to Returning to the Emporium an option for when the group murder hobos the module and does not learn of the Mahadi and Kang connection. My group did pick up on it. And the letter on page 31 only hints that Kang is working for Mahadi.

Good module overall, I wish that the final section in the temple was a little more clear about the divisions between the encounters, (They ended up getting mashed together at my table.)

Also there is a unique monster in this, that is really great, but I wish there was a good mini for it. :)

As for the final section and the confrontation after the final combat, I wish there were more concrete rules about how to go about it. I gave each player individually a chance to come up with something. They all were wiped out (end of a long day at the con) and failed to give a good reason. "I can't think of anything, How about you guys."

:) Brutal Story Award.

Very fun.
