100 Rooms for Large Houses
Publisher: Lee's Lists
by Tex M. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 12/02/2013 00:00:00

As with most of Lee's Lists products, this is a well rounded product for around the one dollar mark. It is very much genre agnostic as stated in the product description ... I purchased this as an aid to my fantasy setting and roughly about 50% of the rooms are applicable to a fantasy setting. There is a nice balance between fantasy and contemporary rooms - though be warned, whilst the list (which is d100) is suitable for contemporary (and possibly some sci-fi) settings as is, it cannot be used as is for a purely fantasy setting and you will have to craft the applicable fantasy suggestions into your own table. A good product worth the money.

Inspiration Pad Pro 2.0
Publisher: NBOS Software
by Tex M. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 10/03/2011 17:21:11

Inspiration Pad Pro is an extremely handy program with particular benefits for GM's who have to create a small adventure on the fly. The program comes with pre-installed generators for PC encounters, NPC names & treasure; and whilst these have limited usefulness, the programs true brilliance is in its ability to be highly customisable by a GM to uniquely suit whatever campaign setting that they are currently running. Inspiration Pad comes with a "How-to" help section so that the GM can create whatever generator he/she needs. The existing encounter generator for an Orc Raiding Party is a good example of this - the generator creates a party leader (bigger & stronger than the rest of the party) and then breaks the raiding party down into 6 hunting parties, each with their own captain & 10 privates/underlings. Along with the 67 strong raiding party, each Orc has a name, weapon, HP and armour! Once you have a handle on creating your own tables & generators (notepad or any other text file will do) you can create your own fully equipped monster encounters, whether that be 1 monster, a group of monsters/hostile NPC's or a whole army! What more could a GM need to cause Havoc & Mayhem! Inspiration Pad Pro would also be of untold worth as an overall encounter generator to someone who wanted to create their own GM free system, or merely modify an existing GM free system! My only criticism (and I really have to stretch to find it) is that the pre-existing generators that come with Inspiration Pad Pro are a bit limited - but heck, this great little program is free and you can create whatever you want with it once you customise it! The generators that you do get are Encounter - Adventure Hooks (only 50), NPC on Street, Orc Formal Introduction, Orc Hunting Party, Orc Raiding Party, & Skrat Minions; Names (and it is the name generator that is the most useful as the program stands without any customisation, with 14 different NPC name generators in Hungarian, Czech, English, Icelandic ... ect); & Treasure - Orc Hoard, Random Books, Random Treasure, & Spell Book. A great product that I will now use in my campaigns exclusively for encounter generation (once I finish customising my version) and one that is definitely worth getting - I would happily pay $10-$15 for Inspiration Pad Pro 2.0.

EMG Mapper
Publisher: Emerald Giant
by Tex M. [Verified Purchaser]

One of the best dungeon creators I have ever seen or used! EMG Mapper is a great product and will save me countless hours of dungeon creation. It is highly customisable; - with a bit of tinkering you can create anything from your standard run-of-the-mill dungeon (though high quality and very complex), to a intensely perplexing maze and all the way through to a City Block with shops on all sides!! Yes, that's right - an actual City Block! Whilst you can not save the maps directly from the program, all you need to do is "Preview" your newly created map and do a screen shot ("ALT" and "PrtScn") - from there you should be able to paste and save (PNG format worked best for me!) into most graphics app. ... allowing you to fine tune your map with even more levels of customisation! Plus help/support feedback was also good.

(Creating a City Block takes some tinkering to get out - and a small amount of "after-creation-editing" - as you use the generated rooms as individual shops; use Embracing Corridor; Rectangles - 100%; Large Rooms; Corridor Exits - doors 100%; Room Exits - doors 100%; Density - 100%; all Misc Settings & Exits 0% and a 20%/80% Room/Corridor Ratio. Only those rooms that front your main corridor/"Street" are shops, with the other rooms NOT fronting the corridor the homes of the shopkeepers plus back alleyways and other residential buildings ... the good thing is, because you have the option of all the rooms being numbered, if you develop a 1-100 table generator for city shops, what each shop on the block actually is is also pre-generated!! *Note for room numbers over 100, subtract 100.)

A marvellous product I can not speak highly enough of.
