I wasn't sure if I should give this a 3 or 4 star. 3.5 feels about right. It should be obvious this isn't a serious adventure from the cover/title. The adventure is stuffed with references of the 80s, but as we discovered the 80s were too big for any one adventure to fully cover. So you may find yourself interjecting your own references to fill in your favorites, which is part of the fun.
The adventure's strong points are the fun social scenario aspects spoofing something in the 80s; so long as the players are willing to play along. Be careful using existing characters as I found my players reluctant to act in the tongue-in-cheek nature of the adventure outside their character norm at first. Because the adventure expects characters to die several times and come back ,it also made potential combat feel pointless which I tried my best to avoid.
The 'story' is pretty weak, even with me upping the stakes at the start my players didn't really feel compelled to bring Strahd 'back'. If you didn't grow up in the 80s or at least are pretty familiar with the 80s you won't find much here. My one younger player seemed some what bored. Even myself growing up in the 80s a few of the references seemed more forced than funny, but that was the exception not the norm.
The price seems to reflect the custom art of the adventure, however I wish it was made easier to share with the players (seperate files perhaps?) especially for online play.
