Of all the supplimental products for any game system I have never been more astounded at the depth and quality of the writing and the depravity of the world being presented to me than that of Urth and Men of Gog. Within its pages lie the creation myth of the world that all creatures of Urth must guess at. The tale is sobering, heartwrenching and horrifying to a degree I could not expect.
I have purchased and enjoyed everything about most of the other suppliments, but nothing in any of Robert Schwalb's previous books ever gave me chills. Reading the first half I had to pause to process the implications of what if any piece of this was real, and how would I continue my life. The monsters and subclasses are Schwalb's usual great content, with some incredible interpretations of what undead can do. I was happy to also find a creature who is effectively a Ring-Wraith and a Nazgul to complete the set.
If you want to run a game with a theme of depravity, degeneracy, and some forces within us being too old and powerful to sway, Men of Gog is a must-buy.
