So I really like this one, but it needs one more page, detailing who made the sign on the door and set the fire, and why.

Also, running after a monster yelling "NI!" at the top of your lungs is... well you get how that could feel a little odd.

However, I love the story in all it's simplicity, and playing through it had some really good human moments, where the PC:s get room to actually start giving a damn about what happens to NPCs. The missing or overlooked parts can be easily fixed.

I truly suck at writing reviews.

Not that I don't have plenty to say about this book, but... well it would get somewhat wordy if I tried to pin down every aspect of this book that appeal to me. Then again, that in itself might say a little about what I thought of this book - there's a lot in there, and while some speaks to me more than something else, it's all very solid and well-written work.

The main thing about this book though is that it simply inspired me, in particular about more in-depth ways to work Nodes into the setting and mood of a story or chronicle. Literally every page in this book gave me ideas for places, entire settings, story-hooks and just neat little quirks to intrigue, fascinate or horrify my players. The official books have some of that, but never managed to trigger my imagination quite in the same way.

As sourcebooks go, I can't think of many qualities that are more valuable.

Excellent job, Charles.

Alright, so before singing praises hoping for a discount:

  • this book is a deep-dive into a very specific paradigm tied to a ready-made character and might feel less useful if you're not gonna use norse magick.

Now to praise: I can work with this. Even if I wasn't planning on a setting/chronicle/character who was into norse magick, this is a great resource for how to tie things together when fleshing out a magick-user, developing their paradigm and deciding on practices and tools.

Because that's the thing when your new player asks about Mage. Inevitably, you're going to have to give them The Talk, and - me being a better ST than a pedagogue - just the neat little summary on page 9-10 helps a lot with that. I'm pretty confident I could toss this book at any of my new players, and it would clear up a metric ton of questions about how to go about detailing their own character's paradigm, practices and instruments.

All in all a well-spent 3 bucks.

Also, bonus points from a Swedish guy for being a book about things "norse" and not starting with "The Vikings..."

Good work, and here's hoping for more of these.
