Slasher Flick -- Bloodbath Hotel

I loved the 'urban decay' set-up; trapped in a crumbling building in a bad part of town. The characters, the map lay-out and all the backstory. All top notch.

But I also loved the suggestions for setting the hotel in 3 or 4 different locations with accompanying suggestions. Means I could re-use this 3 or 4 times, which is supurb value for money.

Slasher Flick -- Horror Island

Solid, original slasher-style set-up. Not as good as some that Slasher Flick has producted but its probably simpler to run. The maps are high quality and reuseable (especially the asylum) and the killer is unique.

The only things against it are the art (minoi quibble) and the decision to 'limit' the number of characters to 6 because of, presumably, the size of the boat.

Personally I'd just stick 8 to 12 on a yacht or a flying boat to get to the island and then let loose with that body count; the more the bloodier. :)

Directors Cut Survival Horror Slasher Camp

Pro's:

  • 2 Colourful, clearly designed maps with good area descriptions
  • Neat set-up and some genre-stting dialogue/characterization.
  • Grusome and gory descriptions of some of the kills the PC's can stumble across.

Con's:

  • Not much of a plot to speak of, also minimal build-up before the horror starts. I'd recommend a lot more rising tension and opportunities to flesh out character relationships, etc.
  • Secondly (and more importantly) the slasher is kind-of boring. No real motivation, no mention of escaped mental patient, cursed revenant or anything of the like. Just some hard-to-kill psycho who turns up, which is kinda weak. Some serious fleshing out/foreshadowing/make interesting is needed.

So, not the best but lots of potential for a great session, just some work needed to flesh it all out.

Massacre at Tortoise Lake: A One-Shot RPG Adventure

A very solid and entertaining slasher-style adventure. I'm a sucker for 'summer camp' styler horror so this was a great find.

The plot is simple enough for beginning GM's/directors, the pregenerated characters are a breath of fresh air, away from the normal cliches and the killer is suitably creepy/twisted.

Add to that some colouful graphics and its a winner. I myself will be using this with Slasher Flick for a bloody, disgusting evening. :)

Thanks, Olive, for the review. It is really appreciated. I'm a big fan of the summer camp horror film genre as well! I wrote this adventure because I like the genre but also because I sometimes want to play a game where running away from the villain is the best option. It leads to a lot of creativity, and great role-playing moments. It is also incredibly satisfying when the players/characters prevail (or at least survive). Thank you for mentioning the NPCs. When I started writing adventures, one of my philosophies was to have great NPCs. Please drop me a note (if you think about it) to let me know how the adventure turns out. The only downside of writing adventures is you're not able to be at every table when they are played :) All the best! David.

I really liked this. I'm a huge fan of PBP's Bedlam City setting and this adventure really lived up to my expectations. Lots of twisted villains, interesting throwaway NPC's and a scenario that can be as simple and straight-forward or tricky-complex as needed.

Give them money to make more content like this! :)

A really solid purchase; a basic set-up for some superheroic action, plus some great artwork of a trio of supers and lots of detailed/reusable maps of a mall. Good value for money and highly recommended.
