Picked this up to run 1 shots for new lvl 1 players.
General feedback here:
The map is pretty overly basic and only a DM map. I ended up recreating my own version of it with NPC placements, and some decor and doing a barebones version for a player map vs a dm map.
The pre-gen characters are decently done, we didn't end up using them in our first run. Seams like it would create a balanced party.
The first trap door is perhaps a little too deadly for a level one party IMO.
We had 4 lvl 1 players who had played DND before and wrapped up the run in 3.5 hours taking 3 breaks of 10 minutes. Well paced IMO. Could easily be increased in difficulty if your party has more players or 1 or two lvl 2 players by adding a goblin for each additional player. The boss encounter was fairly quick due to two Natural twenties by two players, quickly ending the boss who I had maxed hitpoints on anyway. I would add reinforcements that arrive behind the players as they enter one round 1 to have a more epic fight.
I might also suggest for a more prolonged run, adding the entrance to a deeper cave with a more sinister plot in the Goblin Boss room, perhaps a Necromancer who is using the bodies from the goblin raids for his own means.
Overall great priced well done 1 shot. 1 star knocked for map quality.
Hey there! I really appreciate the thorough review. I can tell you really dove in. I definitely would have preferred a better map, but I did it all myself and have zero artistic talent. I may make some revisions based on your feedback as I have also found the boss fight to be just a bit anticlimactic. Thanks again!
This is a fun flavor both during and after sessions. How much damage has that Barbarian taken? Is the wizard or the rogue doing more damage? Who had the biggest hit? Thanks Mad Nomad!
Ran this as a October one shot with a group of friends. We had a good time. Nice addition to an existing campaign that has some coastal travel. Beware it can be pretty deadly. We lost two of the 4 players in the final battle.
Added these to our group. Love them so far. They are able to be dragged onto the players action's sheet easily and I remove them when they use it. It helps them ... well get inspiration for interactions they normally don't try.
I picked this up when I started running TOA. We are 25 sessions in and I am still finding this bundle useful in adding meat to areas of the TOA campaign that are a little light. Good stuff for DM's seeking extra content who are time starved in prep.
Nice spice to add to your TOA campaign. I picked this up later when they used the Brazen Pegasus for some transport and anti pirate activities. There is room here to enhance this ship and her crew as a mobile base for the higher end group as well.
Love these automation extensions. They free me up to interact with the players and keep on the story rather than micromanaging individual actions. I picked up the bundle and have been running with them for several sessions in FG Classic. Keep it up!
