Eschewing the glitz and glam of the stage, the College of the Empath Bards excel in the reading and influencing of emotions. This is a unique and inspired angle to take and a long way from the lute-wielding lothario.

Over the course of the level progression Empath Bards gain a greater insight into the humanoid (and beyond) condition, a greater understanding of how to employ their charisma against a specific creature type, learn how to be an Inspiring Leader in half the time, bolster their Enchantment spells and greatly heighten or dampen the emotions of a large area.

This Bardic College is written in a heartfelt and compelling tone from the Introduction and Special thanks to A Note From The Author and explores a very different approach to Bards. I do feel that perhaps this subclass is a little underwhelming in its capabilities, but it certainly poses some really interesting questions and could be put to very interesting use in the right hands.

At PWYW with a humble suggested price of $1.59 for this thoughtful subclass and Fantasy Grounds mod, this is still well worth taking a look.

Spirit Guardian – A Ranger Class Archetype by Thai Williams (@metal_and_magic)

Spirit Guardian Rangers are the protectors of arcane forests where the natural power takes the form of magical reflections of woodland creatures. As the Ranger protect the forest, the Spirit Guardians keep the Rangers safe.

The totemic Spirit Animal takes elements of the Beast Master’s Animal Companion, Familiars and the Druid’s Wild Shape and blends them together create something unique and brilliant!

The fusion of these concepts mixed with new ideas does come across a little crunchy at first sight, and there are some mechanics that I needed to take a moment to parse, but once I stepped back and saw the Spirit Animal as whole and got a feel for it, it became apparent just how fluffy and flavourful it really is!

The concept of bonding with a spirit of nature able to take the form of a creature is undeniably awesome, and the Spirit Guardian explores and implements this bond and synergy some interesting and exciting ways. These aspects lend themselves abundantly to both mechanics and roleplay.

With a unique vision taking inspiration from various aspects, Williams has created a subclass with bags of flavour and utility.

Monster Loot – Complete Collection Bundle [BUNDLE] by Anne Gregersen (@AnneofManyNames)

This is an incredible bundle of spectacular supplements providing the inspired loot information for all creatures released in the official WOTC books beginning with the Monster Manual, Volo’s Guide to Monsters and Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes and stopping at every released adventure!

The harvesting tools and checks add a fantastic and fun element to adventuring, which all my players absolutely love! I love having this option to give to them and I’m thoroughly excited to get to use it when I’m on the other side of the screen.

The loot itself is fun, flavourful and actually useful with many well thought out expendable items and crafting materials.

This is one of those inspired creations that seems so obvious once it’s out, but thankfully Gregersen got there first and approached the looting and harvesting with style and substance.

These supplements add so much fun!

Fire Warden Ranger by Alex Clippinger (@Aclippinger)

The Fire Warden Ranger is the embodiment of all the emergency services that battled the forest fires in Australia.

The additional spells reflect their stalwart, fire-fighting nature.

Over the course of their levels Fire Wardens gain the ability to control flames without igniting or burning allies, create a soothing barrier against fire damage, learn to bamf in or teleport folx out of danger, and eventually gain the ability to see through smoke, lend your fire resistance to your allies and ultimately immunity over the fire when you ward them.

The cover art by Tithi Luadthong is unbelievably powerful and moving.

This Ranger Conclave is the bulwark against the flames and a thoughtful, flavourful tribute to the Australian fire fighters with all profits from this product going to Extra Life.

Patron of Liberty: A Warlock Subclass by Brittney Way (@FNDungeonMom)

Pledging yourself to Liberty takes many forms, but essentially it makes you superhero; an avenger of freedom.

The expanded spell list draws largely from the Divine realm (with essential addition of Shield) befitting a hero of justice, without stepping on the holy roller’s toes too much.

The quintessential element of living your Captain America fantasy is the shield and it an epic addition to the classic piece of gear with offensive properties comparable to Eldritch Blast, but oh so more filled with flavour!

Further abilities grant greater abilities to coordinate with allies and the fortitude of freedom’s champion, with each ability playing on the most prominent elements and sayings of the First Avenger balancing accuracy, flavour and fun. Plus, a ridiculously awesome and silly bum note to end on.

The new invocations allow your sparkling personality to protect you, more and coordinating shield fun.

This is one of those silly ideas that actually really comes off and creates something new that packs a lot of fun, flavour and good times into a subclass that can be played as a novelty, but truly has far more depth.
