Good investigation scenario, but PCs need some combat skills to succeed. Extras that would be useful in an update: Handout: Publicity photo and bio of Basil Torrance; Handout: Library reference to the history of The King in Yellow; Handout: Still and summary of the film at Dragon's Court; Character Portraits: Manny DeMarco, Elle Flynn, Madame Fang. Setting: Very much tied to Hollywood, though the time could be adjusted to any time from the advent of Hollywood movies to before the internet. Dates on handouts point to specific dates in 1926, would need to be edited to change the time. Pregenerated characters: none provided. Handouts: (four stars) Letters, poster, and diary entries, fair quality. VTT assets: (two stars) Location maps, very crude quality, I found only one usable, and the map of the mansion was not correctly keyed to the text; no character portraits. Extras: (two stars) Schematic chase scene map, if further developed, could make chase scenes easier and more fun

This is a nice easy to run adventure which keeps it simple and is in a great location, seedy Hollywood! There are not enough scenarios around LA IMO. Can I ask though? Why do so many Miskatonic Repository scenarios have opium dens?? Ah the good old days.

Drug inducing fun. Was still to obvious it was the King in Yellow but fun nonetheless, still looking for a clever and hidden yellow king scenario.

I ran this scenario for only two of my players when the rest of the group no-showed. We had a fantastic time. The scene in the opium dem went completely off the rails in the best way. 5 stars. Highly recommend.

This 16 page adventure is for seventh edition Call of Cthulhu, but I wanted to try a system that I had not used yet. So, I used Amazing Adventures 5E. I rolled up a federal agent and four other characters. To solo this, I used a solo engine that I have been testing out. This adventure has a good mix of investigation and combat. The characters had a chance to check out the office of a movie producer, an opium den, two Hollywood mansions, and a movie production studio. All five survived, but Dina the socialite/actress did take some sanity damage. She may never be the same. Give this exciting adventure a try!
