I ran this for my players last Haloween and it was very well received. As well as being genuinly fun and interesting, it was extremely easy to run as is and left room to change up if desired. The module itself was set out in a very DM friendly way. It even comes with some lovely prinout minitures to use. I would definetly run this module for a different group in future and massively recommend it, especially for less experienced DMs.

i thought it was great!
I ran this as a murder mystery sytle introduction adventure for 3 level one characters. There was a lot of me describing what the ghost were doing while the players watched but I think overall everyone really enjoyed the piecing together of the clues and the climax!

So to start with: I am not a very experienced DM. I have run one or two tiny sessions but nothing that lasted longer than maybe an hour or two. This one gave us about 4 hours game time.
I enjoyed the preparation already because I had the impression that it was very well thought through and there is not a lot to add or think of, so once you read through the adventure and have the DM Guide and the PHB you can pretty much start. For a one shot this was perfect, I didn't feel the need to add anything really, but there is definitely room for own ideas. I added some actual diary pages from Valentyne and handed them out, I thought it added a nice touch instead of just telling them whats in the diary - I should have done that for Vincule too.
For inexperienced DMs sometimes its a lot of stuff happening at once and a lot of things to think of because the party can split up and you end up with having to think of multiple things at once. I might have forgotten one thing or another and wasn't sure about the pacing with the hauntings, but that didn't ruin anything for my group and they enjoyed the adventure very much.
If ever I find another group to play this with I definitely will and I will have learnt from my mistakes so it can only get better.

This was a fantastic run. I was able to let the characters explore on their own, using the predrawn map as a template and filling it with prop tables, crates, and other furniture. I was able to build up the tension and really make them lose themselves in the game. When they found redacted I used the chance to give them the story from the maids perspective, playing for them the whole picture of the events as they unfolded. Great info and thought was put into your story. Thank you!!

I ran this as a first time DM last year, and it was awesome! Very intense for a first time DM though, as there is a lot to keep track of at one time. My players couldn't figure out the haunt for the longest time, and the chaos was hilarious. They also split up a few times, which made even more chaos since some where experiencing things others weren't. We almost lost a few outside after they picked a fight with the spirits during the haunt, but they eventually realized they wouldn't attack unless provoked. You can bet they buried that baby ASAP after almost dying though!

I DM'd this for two separate groups of Level 5 players now. And its been SO much fun! Took me awhile to wrap my brain around when haunts would happen but once that was done, it went by easily!
I added harder types of spirits for them to fight since my players are pretty seasoned. Pulled horror themed monsters from Van Richten's Ravenloft manual. Made Hemlock a Gallows Speaker for example and pulled carrionettes into the nursery.
I also added an exhaustion mechanic being in a "haunted" place does a number on ones psyche and they had to make con saves every time a haunting happened and to expedite the urgency of solving the mystery.
Overall, VERY FUN! Allows for a lot of creativity for the dms and a lot of rp opportunity for players!

This was super fun for all the people I ran the campaign with. I added a few extra bits of loot in different sections of the manor to flesh it out a bit, but the story was very well written and dramatic. My players especially loved Vincule and his story.

I ran this for a one-shot.
I had a lot of fun prepping this, and there was a lot of places I was able to get really creative.
That being said I give it a 4 because of the maps. We had a lot of fun.

Ran this for my first time as a DM! It was easy to follow with lots of room for personal flavor changes, and my players had a good time working out the details of the haunt.

My party loved it! They were creeped out most of the time, which was the whole point of doing this adventure for me. Loved the extensive backstory of the adventure and the details in the descriptions. When we were done my players were like: TELL ME ALL THE DETAILS!! They loved it! They were terrified, but they loveeeed it! As for running this adventure, it was sometimes difficult with all the different elements that the adventure holts. But so worth it and so fun to see the terror (and joy) in the eyes of my players. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!

Loved it! I am new to D&D and this was only the 2nd time I have played, I assumed the role of DM and the players and I had a great time. Incredibly well written, easy to follow and a great story line. Thank you, I will be looking for more quests by this author.

Read it, decided not to play with my group. The setup is interesting, it's easy to follow along.
For my group I missed some combat encounters. I know I can play the spirits as combat, but that would result in having the same encounter a few times in the session. A bit like ground hog day ;)
The risk of this adventure is that the adventurers are having a passive role in this adventure. The big reveal or payoff at the end could be stronger I feel.
However, if your group isn't too combat heavy and want an interesting mysterie solving adventure, this is a nice one to try!

Well the simplest metric for a review is how much my players enjoyed and I have to give this a 5 stars. The story and history is simple to learn for the DM but makes for a satisfying mystery as the players slowly unravel it. It has the right spooky vibe without being too depressing (although the backstory itself is quite tragic).
The layout, text and illustrations are cleanly laid out and easy to follow, unlike some official WOTC products. The illustrations are flavourful and evocative.
As someone who enthusastically uses paper miniatures, the real treat for me were the fully illustrated and full colour miniatures at the back of the book.
5/5 from me, I'll be keeping an eye on any future releases by this writer.
