A mixture of strong and weak aspects. I come out with more questions than answers. You should definitely kill at least one PC. Some spoilers.
Strengths:
-Bringing out the horror of a normally innocuous object, holes/voids
-A neat setup with interesting possibilities
-Nice artwork that ties in directly, in particular the artwork of the cat is great
Weaknesses:
-As written, I don't see any reason why the NPCs are stuck in the thorp, aside from not being PCs. PCs can walk away without issue, even if they have been reborn. Technically they could crawl away, they only need to beat something moving 5 feet per round as written "narrate the sinkhole’s encroachment, getting 5 feet closer every round or an appropriate amount of time". I assume this entire scenario is a metaphor for depression. However, those affected by the curse are not depressed, they are not immobilized, and there is nothing keeping them from walking away. Maybe if holes were everywhere and all of the inhabitants were stunned... Though that would probably doom the party as well.
-Bonus objective A doesn’t seem to get much support from anything the PCs would know. Rescuing Hoola may be a goal depending on the hook, but I don't see a compelling in-story reason to attempt to rescue other villagers. Bear in mind in Scene C2 the PCs watch some villagers become aggressive monsters. This is designed for PCs with APL 1 so they aren't going to magically detect a curse, no one outside the thorp seems to know about the thorp so those outside won't ask for those inside to be rescued (aside from Hoola), and those within the thorp don't know about the curse so won't ask to be rescued. How are PCs meant to distinguish between a curse that transforms people into monsters and a village of monsters? Water going straight down the drain without swirling to these people are cursed to turn into monsters is a big leap in logic. The best-case scenario in my mind would be going in to rescue Hoola, noting that he behaves just as the other NPCs and generalizing.
-There don't seem to be any stakes. Death is inconsequential and the worst-case scenario seems to be losing time between sessions, which means nothing for AL.
Questions:
-Why doesn't Ayel plug his ears with cotton or wrap his head with cloth? His problem seems very easy to solve, but he has instead opted to work his arms to the point of pain and exhaustion.
-Why is Hoola's "neurological paralysis" not cured? Characters who are reborn "awake with full health, free of conditions". This may be semantics, but it seems that poor Hoola suffers from a neurological condition that should be removed by this 'curse'.
-Are these folks werevoids?
