Remember all those mundane treasures no one told the DM might be important in the last 12 expeditions? No one does, but apparently they should have been kept track of. Also, do you have a non-elf spellcaster, well sacrifice them to old age and never play them again. The actual Boszorkan Keep wasn't bad, but the horrible plot and writing to get to it was terrible. Did someone realize we were getting to the end of the season and needed to throw together a plot (DDAL4-13 is the only one to mention Strahd-remember him? It's an entire demi-plane of existance tied to the ubber vampire and greatest villan of all time, you're in his home and he basically doesn't exist outside of 4-13).

Finally, we figure what's been going on all this time! Thank you for explaining what we should have known back in DDAL4-7. Crazy Phanton of the Opera dude causes mass destruction? Excellent. Good climax battle.

Didn't make a lot of sense when I ran it. Having Orcs in Ravenloft is weird and confusing. No reason to let Terrorsong live, let alone trust her, as she is clearly both evil and dangerous.

This has been pointed out by others in previous reviews, but why are there monsterous races (Orcs, Yuan Ti, etc) in Ravenloft? It should be mostly Humans and Undead, we're going Gothic not high fantasy. That being said, any T2 caster worth their salt can still solve the village food problem. Beyond that, this module suffers from too many irrelevant choices: Woods or River? Doesn't matter you still end up in same spot, Flowers or Fen? Also doesn't matter as you still end up in the same spot, Polderswale or Hill? Again, doesn't matter as you still end up in the same spot. Also each of them has a choice of 3 encounters, why? Just pick either fight, talk or roll for each-that way choices actually matter: at the crossroads you can pick A (fight) or B (plot), then after resolving that the next choice could be C (explore) or D (plot), then lastly E (explore) or F (fight), that way choices actually matter!

It's basically Ravenloft Clue. With a minor fight at the end. Also a very avoidably enemy at the start that will straight up TPK any party stupid enough to fight it. But the bulk of this module is a game of Clue. If I wanted to play Clue I would play Clue.

Nice little romp, the mirror golem was a clever twist. However, the underlying plot makes little sense: a small village starving isn't much of an issue for a group of T1 spellcasters, a single T2 cleric or druid can solve this with little difficulty and avoid all this trouble.

Classic tragic Ravenloft storytelling here. Pick on the retard, secret cannibalism, we're actually getting into gothic horror for once.

Despite the confusing start, once it got going the combat was at least good. Plot made no sense, the glove thing was weird and suddenly forgotten after part 1.

Holy XP batman. I love this expedition. The elf fight was suitably gorey, and left the clue for the Redcap fight. The Redcap fight was a little more difficult, but led into the Hag RP. The Hag RP leads into the final fight, which was suitably diffucult. Having a way out or Ravenloft makes sense for AL, even though no one should ever escape the Mists. On a semi-related note: in Season 4, the DM Quest for Deja Vu, after running this 5x, adding a +25% xp bonus and ignoring the max cap gets ridulous quickly: a group on new lv1s can get multiple levels with minimal diffuculty.

The Vistani have always been integral to Ravenloft, so it was nice to see them get a moment in the spotlight. The previous modules, despite having a darker tone, could really have taken place anywhere-the Vistani are clearly inside the Mists. Prastonata or Doroq are definately hightlights, and the romantic sub-plot is timeless (albeit cliche).

Well thougth out, and executed well. The reading established the plot, had a chaotic fight, then extended "dungeoun" in the Manor. Only criticism is that, having done the reading, there is no reason to go to the basement since they know to go upstairs, so a good chunk can be avoided.

Not as well written as the previous 2 expeditions. I see what the author was going for with the more open ended sandbox style of exploring the village to discover clues and stuff, but for my group it seems more like just wandering around aimlessly, so it didn't quite work. I had to just more on with the attack on the vilage just to keep things moving. This could have been better.

I liked the darker tone. Even though a short (2h) module, still had lots of content (most optional), decent start of a storyline planting seeds that I'm sure will be reoccuring later.

I thought it did a great job of establishing the darker tone compared to earlier seasons, especially with seemingly normal NPCs behaving eviler than normal. The combat was quick and to the point, had some RP moments. Just a good start to the season overall.
