Wow. Just...Wow. My group enjoyed this, and engaged in the story so much, to the point the "one shot" aspect and the 3-5 hour playtime estimate got blown totally out of the water. We ended up in the 16-20 hour range over several weekly sessions. They experienced fear, concern over NPCs, absolute terror, and delight in the unknown ahead. I have never seen, in four years of playing together, such an emotional reaction from my players.

As others have said, prepping ahead for the mirror room is critical. I interviewed each player individually and asked general questions about their past and the major choice events in their lives. Only one player ended up in that area, but just the story around what happened to him, and why, had the whole group enthralled.

I gave my players the option, before they knew a thing about the adventure, if they wanted this to be a stand-alone one-shot, or work it into the longer campaign we have been running with permanent rewards and consequences. After much debate, they unanimously chose to make it permanent. I think this really helped with the sense of suspense and fear for the character safety. These were not throw-away characters and what happened to them could significantly change the direction of the larger campaign. While I'm a tiny bit disappointed they all came away without permanent metal issues, the rewards they reaped will add to the flavor, commitment, and story of their individual characters.

Great job developing this! And thanks for the hours of fun!

Ran the medium length options for a group of 5 kids 11-15 years old. This is a weekly playing group and not new to D&D. It was, by far, the best, most entertaining module we have run in the last two years of play. The detailed map, the supplementary materials, and the module write-up all make this a dream to run as a DM. In total, the medium play option ran about 6 hours for us, but we had lots of side discussions of the absurdity of the situations the PCs found themselves in.

I asked my kids what they thought should be in this review :"I like the unexpected story!", and "Beware of the naked elf!"

I would say, even with people that had played through this before, the replay value is high. We didn't even cover half of the possible options for areas and interactions. By sheer chance, our group missed many of the toughest areas and encounters. In a total out of character move for this group, they managed to avoid the final battle with Santa in a extremely hilarious and entertaining way. In the end, the PCs saved Christmas, wrote letters to Santa with their deepest wishes, delivered toys worldwide, and destroyed the entire world. By the end, I was in tears with laughter.

Completely worth the price. Highly recommended!
