This is really a great module. The story is nice, and the resolution requires some fun thinking outside the box. I ran this for some children, and they really got into the narrative and figued out how to resolve the adventure in a really cooperative way. I consider this one of the best intro-to-DnD adventures available, along with its companion adventures.

Lead a party of 3 - 3rd level experienced adventurers through this and they quite liked the balance of RP and combat, very much liking the coordinated contributions required for the last encounter.

As the DM, I thought the voice-over descriptions were thorough and easy to read and connected with the later action.

Lovely adventure that works well as an intro to Dungeons and Dragons for newbies. The whole thing is written professionally, and it is clear that both presentation and content were priorities for the designers. This whole series has done a great job of including eerie, Fey qualities that can be ramped up or down depending on the party and the players. I can see this being a kid-friendly outing, and I can also see the creepier elements being emphasised for those who enjoy shadowy fey encounters. I LOVED the retro D&D cover. Superb job!

Ran this as a first time DM and AL DM. It was well written, easy to plan out and absolutely engrossing for the table. I look forward to running through the rest of the series.

Charming little adventure with lots of character to dig into and explore with a party open to a little roleplay. This is especially great for new players and starting characters and it's easy paced and provides a lot of opportunities beyond just combat and fetching. Also a great introduction to the area if you intend to go on to CCC-UK-2 or onwards which are also wonderful. Be a little careful with the combat though if you are running this for level 1s, while this is a starting adventure the enemies are no joke and can pack a punch. Still a heap of fun and a great way to introduce people to the game.

This is perfect for rangers and druids. They can really shine during this adventure; and you can't often say that.

Other classes don't worry, there's something here for you too. The story is well thought out, and even has a love interest.

Murder Hobos Need Not Apply

Yes, there's combat. But it takes a back seat to exploration and investigation of a mystery.

AL Season 8

Sidebars have been added for easy conversion to Adventurers League Season 8 rules.

This module is a lot of fun. Though it was written before Season 8, there are sections that provide Season 8 adjustment instructions, which was very helpful to me, as it was my first time DMing under AL Season 8 rules. There is a nice mix of social interaction and combat and is a great 1st adventure for new players of any age, IMO. Though written for AL, it is a fine addition to any DM's collection. I look forward to running it again.

Wow. Well done. Some of the things that I think will make this adventure appealing to DMs is that the plot is great, it does have sidebars that offer suggestions for Season 8 Rewards, I like the encounters and challenges in this module, and I learned more about a certain creature in this module than I ever did, because of the synopsis provided by the author. The best part IMHO is the ‘Story-Telling’ narrative and also all of Part 4. I’ve never come across an adventure with "this creature" in it so I found it to be very enjoyable and a relief. While I am not big on optics, I found the honorific to the old AD&D module covers of my youth moving as well. Ian Hawthorne’s effort is a must have!

Completely agree that the story and art are great. My players and I liked the setting and the way that each encounter was logical and important. The non-combat challenges are terrific; my experienced players really liked them. There are many opportunities to make this story matter to the characters, and that is lovely to find in a published adventure.

SPOILERS AHEAD in the rest of this review

Wow, when the text says "This could be deadly!" they mean it. I almost wiped out my party twice. The river crossing and redcap ambush can be brutal. DMs who have been disregarding the weak-party adjustments in other modules should use them here! If one or two players make bad choices, it can mean the end of the party.

On the one hand, this is GREAT. It can be hard to present a challenge to experienced players at low levels, and this adventure gets top ratings for success in this. This module rewards players who are smart, care about the story and the consequences, and do not muscle their way through every problem.

On the other hand, I had one inexperienced player in the group and it was almost curtains for everyone. I'd recommend that DMs should prep some good "fail forward" ideas if things go badly.

I will be running this for some friends in the next week, and am very much looking forward to it.

First off, the nostalgic graphic design is great! And overall, the feel of the adventure lives up to classic look of the cover.

The advenure succeeds wonderfully at its stated intent of including a lot of great lore and weaving it into the story. Though the story may be relatively straight-forward and simple, the lore that is woven into it and a few nice twists make it incredibly engaging. I also appreciate the sidebars referencing how to tweak it for the current season of AL rules.

The maps are well done, and the inclusion of story award and item unlock handouts are very useful.

This was an excellent adventure, greatly evocative and atmospheric, really adding depth and character to the forested region of the Moonsea. Great formating with very clear guidance for the DM. Thoroughly recommended; look forward to more UK modules!

I played this at UK Games Expo; a fantastic and memorable experience.

You feel like you are part of a story older and larger than your part in it. The interactions and encounters were clever, and, without wishing to give away too much, terrain & circumstances were used well by the author. Raw power was never the solution, the party had to think and work together. I would strongly commend it to you to run for a party that enjoys an evocative storyline and clever encounters. Personally, I'm looking forward to playing more of the Elvenflow Saga.

TLDR: A well written adventure with novel encounters, an interesting backstory, and useful maps.

Review: My opinion is that of a player of the adventure, with a DM's eye on the detail. Reading through the script shows a lot of effort has gone into its creation, with no obvious omissions or errors. I love the cover art; it feels like a homage to the original UK series of adventures published by TSR.

The background adds some tasty pieces of lore to the Cormanthor forest, which I have previously visited in Baldman Games' trilogy, and the recent 'Lost Tales of Myth Drannor' by WotC. Importantly, the text is easy to follow, and the maps are useful, which isn't always the case with AL offerings. The art style is a bonus to the product, although I would have been happier if a printer friendly version were available without the faux parchment effect.

The encounters are interesting and well thought out. One in particular stands out, but you'll have to play it to see just how great it is.

Time will tell what it is like to run, but as a player it was a lot of fun. This comes highly recommended. It would be a great way of starting characters in the Cormanthor region, leading to the adventures I mentioned earlier, and is itself a hook to 'The Wayward Wives' by Will Doyle.
